I think Daka and Soumare will come good so not worried about that.

One of the things Pearson always said is that he would only sign players that improve the first team. That's something we rarely do these days. I understand signing young players with potential. That's a good strategy - but I also want players who come straight into the first team. This has barely happened since Rodgers arrived and he still plays a starting 11 that is basically what he has when he arrived. That's not good given how long he's been here now.

This is a very good point you make here - it is very difficult to improve our first XI without serious money.

My deeply held belief is that Rodger's preferred formation is the 4-1-4-1 he utilized his first full season.

Looking at the 0-9 performance at Southampton -- The only player we have lost is Chilwell, replaced by Castagne/Thomas. We now have Fofana and Justin, both of whom we could argue improve this 11.

How else do you improve that 11? The ever elusive RW is the main missing component. Although, of course, you hope Daka steps up to be the Vardy replacement, KDH would be the Youri plug in, we don't know who is leaving this summer, etc. etc.

So improving the 11 comes down to recruiting so people will be "competing" for starting spots. Aside from a RW, I don't see anyone who would obviously be pushed out of our starting 11 at the moment, if everyone is fit.

I find it difficult that our own fans, of a

a top 8-4 club haven't understood

COVID effects..Financial-control.

& Their too high expectancy of what quality  in these times is available & our old story who wants to sign for Leicester..One doesn't click your fingers then like for the Fonz & they all come running..

Management above Rodgers, these last 2 January windows, had said more times that they won't be investing in Expensive players..though open if something near a balanced budget comes along..

Vestergaard & Bertrand , situation because of sudden unseen b.line injuries..We also thought Mendy was on his way out..

Vestergaard was seen as a decent

Danish international,so when he came available it seemed for our situation a decent balanced Risk..

Bertrand..started well..then faded..

Our strength was always investing out of the major stream, most fans knew and accepted this..Daka & Soumare we understood would need time, both were perhaps thrown in too often because of long injury outages, and not the "easing in period" that normally happens..

Our injuries for a club with our rescourced not top in 1-4 Pl clubs, was/is not 2-3,,but quality B.bone  stars of  5-7 at any one time, with no full recoveries..until February 2022 which is still questionable..

Rodgers took all responsibilities on himself..without whining..admitted he made mistakes...but some will have him over arrogant..

not signing Jarrod Bowen was an embarrassment

The most disappointing thing for me is that every time I read an article linking city with a player its always in positions in which we are strong or "future prospects"

The last was a left back ffs!

The positions we need desperately never seem to be even in prospect!

The incredibly difficult one is gonna be someone to replace JV, now as it always has been the rarest talent is scoring and playing the way we have been makes a difficult job next to impossible.

The real concern for me is the lack of depth in the midfield and attack, Tielemans is a liability atm but there is simply no one else, the fact that Madders is far and away the most likely to score speaks volumes about our strikers and playing style.

This lack of recruitment could put us back to mid table mediocrity in the blink of an eye and l for one ain't interested in that.

One of the problems I keep seeing in peoples thinking is lumping Bertrand and Vestergaard in the same conversation like we intentionally went out to sign them both, just because they came from the same club.

When you look at the two signings individually, they do make sense. Bertrand was supposed to be the experienced replacement for Christian Fuchs. It was good business at the time, replacing an experienced pro with another for no fee. He was never expected to any more than back up, playing like Fuchs 10 or so game for the season. It really hasn’t worked out, but other than wages, and I can’t imagine he’s on more than Fuchs was, we haven’t lost anything.

Vestergaard was a late signings due to Fofana’s broken leg. Just a couple of weeks before the season started, we knew Evans wasn’t in the best shape and we needed a quick decision about who was available, would come and would be relatively inexpensive (£15 mil isn’t that much for an experienced PL defender these days). He was never meant to be a first choice and came in with no preseason, again it hasn’t worked out, but the last couple of times he’s played he’s been much better.

I think both would be ideal signings for lower mid table PL clubs or those coming up needing PL experience, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them both be sold and get £15 million outlay back.
