Seems like a fair amount 😂

let’s hope there’s a decimal point missing there

Well, can't say we weren't warned about Congerton!

Couldn't you make the amount bigger lol

Obviously depends on fee and what his role will be but not inspiring for a potential CL club. He was good at monchengladbach prior to southampton so hopefully he finds that form if he joins. This will likely indicate the problems the pandemic are causing to finances.

DKK 225m is around £ 27m ;)

We should sign him for this alone. (That's Kasper in goal btw)

Haven't seen much of him apart from the 9-0, is he any good ?

massively underwhelming if true on the face of it. But if we are to get champions league next year then we do need a bigger squad. So if he is happy to play third/fourth fiddle and be the cup game defender, then it could be worse.

He’s barely played this season - has he been injured?

He started the first few games and even scored a couple and only seemed to return to the team for the last few games before lockdown?

Barely played in 2020. Didn't realise how much soton paid for him! From what I can remember he's pretty slow?

He’s a good player. I would take him here. It’s quite obvious the characteristics we are looking for in a defender:

Massive

Good passing ability

Ajer and Vestergaard are very similar players.

Think you're right - it could be that the pandemic has pushed Vestergaard (who'd have been a plan B) above a younger target who'd cost more.

It's been as good as confirmed that in January we were after Tapsoba who went to Leverkusen and it seemed we were persuing Demiral, both at the same time we were linked to Vestergaard. Seems like he's a bit of a contingency in case the budgets don't add up.

Surely it will just be a replacement for Wes - someone big we can bring on to make a back 5 who can head everything away when defending in closing minutes.

Even at £25m seems like quite a luxury

I don’t think saints will get £25m for him. Just can’t see up paying that. Plus they’re reportedly in a little bit of a financial mess if I remember.

All depends on what we are likely to have to pay for him. In no circumstances should he command a fee of more than they paid for him. He is now 27 and he hasn't done overly well in English football. Anything more than £10-12m is potentially a suspect investment, especially given the current financial climate.
