In another thread I worked out that Danny Ward was statistically the weakest shot stopper in the league, letting twice as many on target shots past him as the best keepers in the league. That, I estimated at the time would cost us between 11 and 15 goals having the absolute worst keeper in the league over having the best keeper in the league. 15 extra goals shipped does mean points so we would not be relegated had our keeper been amongst the best in the league. If you have a shitty keeper then you need a rock solid defence, we maxed out on both.

The rapid decline of Wilf has had a huge impact. Can't blame one player but that lack of a ball winner in front of the back 4 has been a killer. Wilf was the best DM in the country and then his form fell of a cliff.
