Leeds Match Thread

Hold on. We conceded two, the same as at Bolton when we defended. Furthermore one was from an unnecessarily given free kick when the Leeds man was covered by several defenders - according to radio - and another from a free-kick which led to a deflected shot.

We were playing 4-4-2 when Bolton scored, and we were attacking. I'm not against attacking football at all, all I was saying was that if you attack more it's natural you'll concede more as a lot of teams like to hit you on the break.

What was Barber and co. on?

Seems like they were commentating on a different game. Our passing was good, Momo was effective and Maybury had his best game in a city shirt.

Commentary as always was appalling. I know it's local radio but surely we don't have to put up with it... Not only are they poor at describing what has happened (as Thracian has just said above) they also seem to know nothing about Leicester (I know Barber will probably read this so I'm trying not to be too harsh but he is the main culprit) they talk vaguely about scoring records and transfers etc. when its clear they know nothing about City pre-2004 apart from a few sentences they probably read in the job description... and then they get elementary things wrong such as saying 'McCarthy makes a clearing header' when McCarthy was sent off 10 minutes ago

Plus they're always so negative, I don't ask for them to wear blue-tinted specs but they seem to think that they must be negative towards the team so that people can't accuse them of pandering to the club, I don't see why they can't just tell it like it is. It's all 'that was a dreadful final ball, I've no idea what he was doing there, what a stupid move' when someone like Stearman scuffs a pass. I can't remember which game it was this season (I remember it was a draw), and I was coming out of the Walkers feeling fairly happy until I turned on Radio Leicester and was told that we'd seen an awful game, was this the end of Levein etc.

The worst bit for me after the match today was when they were talking to the guy in the studio (Egerton? Trelinski?) he was saying 'oh City haven't turned a corner then', 'how much time does Levein need?', 'nothing has changed in a year' when he'd not even been to the game.

And there are people out there who will take what the commentators say as the truth of the match and then start calling for Levein's head, or booing players.

(That turned into a rather long rant :P )

That's my main concern. I thought we deserved at least a point, and Leeds were not a poor team. I'm encouraged by this, but then you see the opinions of those who had to listen to the radio, and it's clear they've heard a completely different game to the one we watched.

We travelled with the guy who spoke to RL in the car on the journey home, so we only heard one side of the convo, but apparently someone texted in after the Sheff Yoo game saying we'd be back to being a pub team this week, and he texted back in to say 'told you so' yesterday. Whilst everyone's entitled to their opinion, we don't need ones like that. I'm glad he stayed on the line to say so.

I suspect like most media these days they see more mileage in the possiblity of some scandal, or someone losing their job and needing replacement rather than a perfectly normal entertaining game of football. It's almost in their interest for CL to be under the cosh and they seem subconsciously to want to help it along especially as we've very little if any chance of giving them the excitement of promotion or winning a cup.

Most media stories are either twisted to the negative or are the other extreme like George Best's 1hour plus BBC funeral coverage, come on I was a great admirer of his football skills but that was just way, way over the top. Especially since for the last 10 to 15 years the media has gone out of it's way to magnify every single indiscretion from the guy.

The sad thing is they will excuse it with 'this is what the public want'. Well not this member of the public.

The rant continues :P

It was another good atmosphere in the away end.

Elland Road? run down, 20,000 empty seats, no atmosphere from the home support - how pleasing is that?

Before a load of people start abusing me this is the truth.

If thats your defenition of good away support I'm really losing my marbles, not only your pathetic 1,000 support was shocking but I frankly didnt hear a whisper from you apart from a group of 10 in the first half who were trying to raise spirits and thats away from home!. Whats that all about sitting down

Dont get me wrong our support was the worst this season but still sang. and about Elland run down I would much prefer a stadium with a bit of character than Walkers Stadium another plastic stadium like the majority in England.

Apart from that I can see you up their if it isnt from your midfield that seems to pack the middle out and not create much. Anyway good luck for the rest of the season.

That seems to echo what a lot of folk have said about Paddy 'Isnogood.

Hmm didnt hear hardly anything from your lot behind the goal apart from some clown waving his scarf like his life depended on it  I would say the away support was fairly loud but maybe our voices didnt project well due to our location. Either way the facilities for away fans are awful (sort the female loos out) and the bit with the 'refreshments' in is more like a run down multi-story carpark (to quote Stezza) but if you prefer facilities like that to ours then good luck to you :)

I don't know if this has been said elsewhere, but the Leeds PA announcer is a complete tit. By 2.55pm, I was feeling twice as homocidal as I usually am when watching City.

Yes he was very reminiscent of the tit at Hull if I remember rightly

Our support was rubbish but no worse than yours!!! I was in group of 10 and just gave up in the second half as noone else seemed bothered.

As for sitting down.... ask your nazi style stewards and police who threaten people with being chucked out after you stand up for 20 seconds.

For your information, from someone who has travelled away a lot over the last few seasons to watch Leicester, I enjoyed the atmosphere in the away end. Whether you think it's pathetic or not quite frankly doesn't concern me.

As for your stadium, it reflects completely the position your club is in, run down and no longer top flight.

You sang when you scored - Wow, big deal. Now I'm not saying we're any better, but then we're not the mighty Leeds, Champions of Europe.

Don't give me that shit either about preferring a stadium with character. What are you FFS? an estate agent? When you were "Living The Dream" under Ridsdale you were planning a move out of the city to a brand new stadium next to the M1. Bet you were'nt fighting for your character ridden ground at the time were you?

Like I said. Run down stadium, 20,000 empty seats - Doo doo doo do dooo, I'm lovin it.

oh dear....leeds&leeds&leeds......do you know where Leicester is? probably not. Have you been to Leicesters Walkers stadium? probably not. Probably never been out of leeds. About five seasons ago I went to elland road only to find it a dump then and by the sounds of it not much has improved.

If you have been out of leeds then you would know that there are a vast amount of stadiums that are considerably newer, better and supporter friendly than your home base. Never mind one day you may find the money to build a new stadium and catch up with the rest of the progressing football community.

COME ON THE MIGHTY FOXES

What a pity then for you lot, with your rundown, characterless stadium.
