Craig Levein ahead of the Leeds clash > Joey Gudjonsson pre-match interview > Audio and Video links on this page require Realplayer Craig Levein remains confident that his side are moving in the right direction as the Foxes prepare to take on the northerners. "Leeds are in form, but I am confident that we can take the progression we have shown in recent weeks and use that on Saturday..." Leicester City manager Craig Levein Leicester put in arguably their best performance of the season to date when overcame Sheffield United 4-2 at the Walkers Stadium on Saturday 26 November. And Levein's men carried that form through to Wednesday night's Carling Cup fourth round tie at Bolton - and although City lost the game 2-1 after extra time there were again a number of positives to take out of the encounter. Levein on Leeds clash The City boss said: "Leeds are in form, but I am confident that we can take the progression we have shown in recent weeks and use that on Saturday to put in a decent performance. "Leeds are a very skilful and attacking side who have scored quite a lot of goals this season. We will have to make sure we nullify any threats that they have, which will be difficult, and we also need our most creative players to perform. But if the front four are on their game and we get an average amount of luck then we are a handful for anybody." Levein on the line-up Iain Hume - Leicester City player Levein may choose to play a 4-4-2 formation for the Leeds clash. He said: "Both Iain Hume and Elvis Hammond, who were our striker when we played Sheffield United last week, should be available. Elvis was left nursing an ankle injury following that game, but he should be fine. "Ryan Smith didn't play on Wednesday night and Momo was only on the pitch for around 45 minutes in total. Patrick Kisnorbo and the two centre backs also didn't start the Bolton match, so we have some fresh legs available Meanwhile, Levein faces an anxious wait on the fitness of his two goalkeepers. Rab Douglas - Leicester City He added: "Rab picked up a bit of a strain against Bolton, while Paul got an ankle knock in training earlier in the week. We will be in a better position to assess things on Friday, but we should be ok." Head 2 head The two clubs have met 107 times previously in all competitions with 102 of those coming with league points at stake. Leeds are only the sixth club against whom we have managed a century of league outings – Arsenal, Birmingham City, Manchester United, Newcastle United and West Ham United are the others. Fosse also played a further 18 games against United’s predecessor, Leeds City. The Foxes have won just 10 and drawn 12 of the 52 games in Yorkshire. http://www.bbc.co.uk/leicester/realmedia/s...c_preview_1.ram - CL comments http://www.bbc.co.uk/leicester/realmedia/s...c_preview_2.ram - Joey comments
Thracian Posted 3 December 2005 Posted 3 December 2005 Still can't get to away games due to carer responsibilities but am there in spirit and looking forward to Levein showing us he's got real belief in his side. I have: 3-0 to Leicester courtesy of Smith, Hume and Hammond and I've put a fiver on that.....got 420/1 !!!! Shows exactly how defensive I think we should be. Go for it. Let's truly welcome a New Dawn for Leicester and recapture the Spirit of the Sixties.
Anish Posted 3 December 2005 Posted 3 December 2005 City: Douglas, Stearman, McCarthy, Gerrbrand, Maybury, Sylla, Kisnorbo, Gudjonsson, Smith, Hume, Hammond. Subs: Johansson, Hamill, Tiatto, de Vries, Dublin. Hughes out injured again <_< Williams has a back problem
Milky Posted 3 December 2005 Posted 3 December 2005 What's with Maybury at left back again! good to see the pretty much the same side tha beat sheffield united though. come on boys!!!!
Durnerz Posted 3 December 2005 Posted 3 December 2005 City: Douglas, Stearman, McCarthy, Gerrbrand, Maybury, Sylla, Kisnorbo, Gudjonsson, Smith, Hume, Hammond. Subs: Johansson, Hamill, Tiatto, de Vries, Dublin. Hughes out injured again <_< Williams has a back problem That'll do me.
Thracian Posted 3 December 2005 Posted 3 December 2005 What's with Maybury at left back again! I don't understand it either. Levein always has to do something a bit wacky. But, overall I'm pleased enough with the team apart from not being able to understand using Tiatto (whe rarely changes games for the better) as sub instead of Sheehan (who can). Now, hopefully we'll see some positive tactics...
