So many of our fans were brainwashed by Brendan. Too many couldn't bring themselves to call out his incompetence because of his previous success. Too many couldn't see the utter bull shit he spouted and believed every single word that came from his mouth. I never wanted to dislike the manager that won us our first fa Cup, but his interviews at the start of the season were appalling. The constant blaming of everyone from the board to the players to the fans was utterly disgraceful. If he'd just lost his way and was clearly trying everything possible to improve us and keep us up, then fine, he leaves a legend for the fa Cup win. Unfortunately that wasn't the case and he clearly downed tools and was waiting for his pay out rather than just doing the honourable thing and resigning if he felt so let down by the board. He's destroyed the club, helped by the people above and others within the club and has left the club a million times worse off than he found it. Puel was despised by many but he left the club in a good position in terms of playing squad when he left.

Not sure if they were brainwashed by Brendan or brainwashed by KP tbf

Or both in many cases

Rodgers was talking out of his arse most of the time. The board fell for it, sadly the Fa Cup win probably kept him in the job. As that gave him something to clung on to for some time. I think if Rodgers never lifted the Fa Cup, he'd have gone sooner.

it was clear form game one that Rodgers wanted out and they let it go on all season until it was to late to change, terrible management from the board.

Well ‘Kate Thompson’ is a f***ing idiot up her own arse! Who does she think she is to refer to those fans who were displaying their opinion as ‘Idiots’ or the others as ‘sensible fans’.

You only have to read that bit to know this is a person who just thinks she is superior and her view is the right one.

I’d say I wonder how she feels about it now but no doubt if challenged, she’d tell us now Rodgers would have saved us so she wasn’t wrong blah blah blah. Then she’d tell us the sky is green and the grass blue whilst at it

If she is reading this, she can get in the bin!

Yes, I'd say that false dawn of a game at the start of October ref the 4-0 win over Forest was what most likely bought Brendan another six months - which ultimately lead to our relegation as you alluded to. Then again even if we'd lost at home to Forest that night to extend our dreadful run to 8 defeats on the bounce then seeing how slow they were to act in sacking him later on, he might still have been with us for a damaging amount of time after then too!

To be honest even with that Forest game, how that is their tipping point is just beyond me. For all I bemoan the bad circumstances saving Rodgers time and time again - how the hell he survived that first 7 games I just find absolutely incredulous. It annoys me even now thinking about it. This was going into the first international break too which is always a notorious time for sackings. I think that couple of days after the Spurs game where it became apparent he was going to survive was the period where I lost a hell of a lot of faith in this hierarchy and it's never really been the same since.

The xG didn't lie in 21/22, to be in denial when the results matched the performances which had been a leading indicator for so long is laughable. They should have known internally about the decline. Maybe they'd have realised they were culpable though so chose to ignore it instead. I bet the analysts were banging their heads against the wall last year.

I was indirectly aware of somebody within the club who left within the last couple of years who had pretty much said it was like talking to a brick wall at the club and that it was all Rodgers / Congerton's say. Said person then eventually joined the exact manager who I was told he would join should that manager get back into the game as well so it adds some credibility to the info.

I've little doubt there were people at the club who saw the trajectory we were on - it didn't take a rocket scientist. It's just increasingly obvious they wouldn't have been listened to.

We won't get lucky forever. If Maresca is the real deal and the people above him are this inept, he will not stick around here.

Yeah, especially when you consider there were already two managerial casualties in the league by the time we played Forest in early October (Parker at Bournemouth, Lage at Wolves). How he survived those seven consec. defeats (eight winless), was almost as big a mystery as to how he continued to survive after the Southampton away defeat at the start of March!  Had we got rid then, then we possibly wouldn't even be having this "what if" discussion!

Yes, the dire tactics from Rodgers in the Brentford opener last season re the subs still remains deeply suspicious re throwing away our 2-0 lead, as to whether or not it was deliberate sabotague in a protest to the board about not being financially backed.....the rest as they say is history....
