The FSA has partnered with key rail industry and public authorities that make up the Rail Delivery Group (RDG) to help them understand the issues that matchgoers face when travelling by rail throughout the season.

While the survey has an away fan focus we are also encouraging “home” matchgoers who travel longer distances by rail to complete the survey, as they face many of the same issues as away supporters.

This survey is part of their work to better understand the motivations of fans travelling by rail, the issues they face, and the improvements they would like to see made to ticketing and the rail network more generally on matchdays.

It could lead to improvements for supporters on the rail network and we're encouraging everyone to take part.

The biggest issue currently, is that ASLEF goes on strike every few weeks.

I just knew someone was going to say some nonsense like that!  :)

Issues

*not enough drivers so trains regularly get cancelled at short notice

*the next train that comes along is made up of 5 carriages of which 2 are first class

*no seats/toilets out of order

*have to sell a kidney to purchase ticket

Think I’ll keep going in my car thanks, get there quicker and cost less

These two. East Mids is the worst for it; end up spanking 100 quid to be a sardine in a corridor because they've made the train 50% first class (which itself is 20% full).

Being made to move out of standing in first class when normal is sardines is one of the best things of the British railway
