Daggers Posted 26 December 2024 Posted 26 December 2024 We’ve lost our second marquee this season - you’d really think someone would consider taking it down in bad weather. And we’ve lost our pizza van. I think I’d rather have lost Isiah Noel-Williams. Still, 3-1 to the entitled boys and four points clear at the top again.
Leicesterpool Posted 26 December 2024 Posted 26 December 2024 George Eliot (Nuneaton) Derby seen a Boro a win over Nuneaton Griff, 2-0 win in front a crowd of just over 1,200!. Griff usual attendance is normally around 50 so they certainly made decent sum in admission and bar takings. Score line flattered Griff, should have been 3 or 4 nil in first half. First game playing back in Nuneaton since October 2023. Very foggy affair, visibility at times was an issue with the fog especially with the racetrack around the ground. 1
joeybside Posted 26 December 2024 Posted 26 December 2024 Quorn 4 - 1 Shepshed Bumper crowd just under 500. Great atmosphere. Gritty performance from Shepshed but once we got in front, that was it. Considering we’re taking a long time to get into games, a potential banana skin was avoided 2

We took 500 to St Ives, swamping their support, and have taken over 400 to a couple of others this season. Given away contingents aren’t reported and can’t be calculated, you must have some kick arse method of assessing us “entitled” clubs from matches you’ve not attended. The gate at St Ives v Kettering was 471.And I think you are getting slightly carried away if you think Kettering Town are regularly taking 400 plus away from home. You were often getting around 600 for home games last season. Having 400 for Harborough is more than fair and every single away regular would have one, plus more if the will was there to distribute like that. I have no scientific method of assessing entitlement so have to go off the amount of plums across social media. 1

You see, and I don’t know for how many weeks you’ve been into football, the thing is that attendances correlate pretty highly with performance. Last season, we performed badly. Very badly. This season, not so much. Consequently demand for tickets (when sold) has increased week on week due to our not bad albeit exceptionally entitled performance. Had you been to any matches whatsoever you could have seen this firsthand. Now I’m sure that you know far more Poppies fans than I do, what with you appearing to be some kind of social media guru, but you and your virtual chums need to take the L (as you trendy young instatock users say). My initial comment was tongue in cheek, as anyone who may have read my 50k+ posts on here would’ve noticed. Go have an alcopop and chill your beans. 1

All I’ve ever suggested is that 400 tickets is more than fair. And based on past attendances and away followings it shows it’s more than fair. Every single one of your loyal followers will get a ticket.
blueharmie Posted 27 December 2024 Posted 27 December 2024 Daggers, I've heard you haven't even sold the 400 away at harborough. I know Kettering are massive and all that 😁 2

He feels part of something again. I can echo your mates thinking, I lost so much interest in top flight football starting in 2019 and when I went to my first non-league game at Brackley Town in 2020 I fell in love with the sport again. But do we get more joy/despair… Not for me, I just enjoy being at the non-league game, seeing new teams, cheering us on but not getting too worried about results i have to admit I wasn’t too disappointed about losing the play off finals for the past two seasons as NL North is a great level to be at Edited 27 December 2024 by FoxesFan#1 1
blueharmie Posted 27 December 2024 Posted 27 December 2024 (edited) I follow harborough and have done for a few years. It's great, I prefer it to sitting in a soulless bowl and not pay £60 for the privallage. For me personally, love seeing us win, it's like how I felt about Leicester in the day. Still always support Leicester but the fans in the modern game have been shafted. This is how football was when I grew up, obviously not thousands of fans but what prem league manager would stick £100 behind the bar at Barwell yesterday for the away fans. Love non league, obviously the quality is no way near the premier but the modern game is for the rich and tourists. Edited 27 December 2024 by blueharmie 4

You appear to have misunderstood the light hearted nature of my posts and this thread. Again. I think I’ll leave you screaming into the void now.

Finnaldo Posted 28 December 2024 Posted 28 December 2024 Couple Christmas shockers in the UCL South- both title contenders St Neots and Aylestone Park losing 2-5 to Eynesbury on Boxing Day (in front of a fantastic 1k+ crowd) and 1-3 to Leicester Nirvana today respectively, play off hopefuls Daventry Town lost to struggling Easington. That leaves Rugby an opportunity to go top with their game in hand and the chasing pack for the play offs (including Hinckley) scrapping for the last two play off spots… 2

Might play when over for Spurs commitments is how it was left. I wouldn’t put it down as a PR stunt, just a chance meeting from the manager Mitch in Spurs hospitality that turned into something. And having met him he was a lovely humble bloke and had time for everyone at the Club, and he didn’t pick up a penny. 1
