My issue with loaning Souttar out was not then having a fifth centre back in the squad. You had either Nelson or Souttar as fifth, I’d have sacrificed Souttar and loaned out Nelson(yes shame with what has happened). Arguably Souttar would have seen considerably more game time than was initially anticipated, with how this season has gone.

Souttar was another poor signing by Rogers and was never mobile enough for the Premiership. 

 

Nelson needs experience Though I doubt he'd be any worse that what we have in the Squad presently.

 

We need 2 CBs and a right back who can compete in this league in the next 2 Windows. While we rebuild for the future.

It works both ways 

The club loaning the player requires some security.  If you’re going to say that you have the right to recall any loan player in jan then you’ll have to compensate with a lower loan fee or them covering less of the wages. some clubs would avoid loaning the player if this was a condition.
