Hi everyone, you may remember last October I participated in the Prostate United Challenge of running 5km each and every day throughout October, this year in my infinite wisdom I have signed up again and will be running 31 x 5km this October.

In will be running for team Leicester City to raise money and awareness for prostate cancer Uk which is an amazing cause.

Last year this forum was a great source of support and I was shocked by the level of engagement I received, it was really humbling how many people reached out with their own personal experiences.

Please see the link to my just giving page if you can spare a donation, if not please just give this a thread a follow and give us a like or comment to help me through the challenge.

No.  Should do, in the circumstances.

Yes, definitely. It's free, just call your GP.  Better to get yourself checked, not leave it to chance.

If there is anything, you're in a much better position to tackle it early.  Don't leave it! 👍🏼

Just as an update I have emailed the club via the Help and press email addresses asking if they would support me by promoting the challenge I am undertaking to help raise awareness amongst the clubs fans. Email sent on Monday evening so hoping to receive some positive feedback/response in coming days.

Emailed the club last Monday to both the Help and Press email addresses and not even received an acknowledgment reply let alone anything else. So last night I sent it on to the board so hopefully will get some positive engagement as they did last year 😊

Hope you get a positive reply from them soon. It would be nice if the players and club could donate something as well.

Thank you, although still not had an acknowledgment from LCFC Help to my email just under 2 weeks ago and same from the email to the board from just under a week ago, hopefully I hear something next week as it gets closer to the challenge starting.

I posted on here last year about my prostate cancer, but after watching that programme on BBC last night about that young girl that had breast cancer, I felt I had to tell my story again.

My raised PSA level was luckily found during a routine blood check and after checks, Prostate Cancer was found, so I opted to have it removed, I thought that was the end of it. Four and a half years later, the PSA level started to rise again, so probably some infected blood escaped, either during the biopsy or surgery. The big question is where in my body had it gone to. After a few scans, it was found in my spine, T8 to be exact. Not where you want it, as it cant be cured when it has got into bone.

At present, I am on a hormone therapy treatment to slow the growth, as Prostate cancer is driven by testosterone. At the moment my PSA level is fairly stable, but the cancer will find a way past the treatment, thats when I will get further scans to see if it has spread to any other parts of my body. This is scarily similar to the girl whose breast cancer had spread, first spine, then brain, then other parts, so guess mine will go the same. Just hoping I can be around for a few more years.

Please please guys, get checked, as the earlier it is found the more chance of beating it. Although no real symptoms, having a poor flow when peeing could be a sign. The test is a simple blood test. I cant understand why ladies have breast screening, but nothing for Prostate cancer for men.

Prostate Cancer will take sons from mothers, husbands from wives, fathers from kids, grandads from grandkids, brother from siblings, the list goes on, so its not just men that are affected. Please dig deep and give as much as you can as this will help research beat this awful disease.

Steve
