Cambodia has been accused of firing rockets into a Thai village and attacking a hospital, while Thailand has carried out air strikes on Cambodian military targets

Thailand has closed its entire border with Cambodia after telling all its nationals there to leave, while Cambodia has downgraded its ties with Bangkok which they accuse of using "excessive force"

Spent time in Cambodia, stayed in Siem Reap to visit the amazing Angkor Wat Temples. Siem Reap literally translates as Siam Defeated. They’ve got a long history of conflict.

So, essentially, there's a good risk this could blow up into a full scale war then.

Hate it when journalists contradict themselves in the space of one sentence. They hope no one notices (and many don't) so they can say later, I was right.

He didn't say there wasn't any risk. He's describing what peoples' assessment of that risk is (by implication, low enough that they'd answer the putative binary question with a negative).

That the risk is 'good' is your call, but it's not clear what that's based on other than the conflict not stopping very soon. Even if you ignore the 'at the moment' wrt the current lack of leadership, It's perfectly possible for a conflict to drag on at 'international handbags' levels for some time and then be resolved.
