Yeah, as you say, there may an imbalance over relatively short periods ... but in the long run it should get close to 50/50.

 

I did a quick calculation.  Since 1969 I reckon we've played 129 FA Cup ties (excluding semi finals and finals), and it breaks down as Home: 63 Away: 66.   

So over the last 55-60 years, it's just about balanced home and away.

If we can sign a proper Goal Scorer then we have a chance of beating them.

To an extent but even if a team had 10 aways in a row it doesn’t make it any more likely that the next tie will be a home.  Every individual draw is 50-50 unless you are Real Madrid (allegedly)

We played them at the wrong time as well, so I wouldn't go off the last result too much either. 

 

But yeah, we need to improve still.
