It’s a gamble isn’t it when you sell someone so highly rated for that as we could be losing out on a lot in the future, and they might waste £10m.

Ultimately it comes down to, was it a good deal for us at the time? Definitely, so don’t look too far into the what could happen.

Was it a good deal for them at the time? Probably also yes, they might have a £50m player on their hands and £10m is small change to them.

10m might be big change to them soon

If Monga came through whilst we were a side pushing for Europe then £10m would have been laughed at. £10m is a good deal for us because of the situation we are in. It's almost entirely risk free for Man City with genuinely ridiculous potential.

£10m was agreed because our hands are behind our back with a gun to our head. It's not a good deal to sell a player like Monga for such a small amount of money.

Yeah, to be fair, I obviously mean £10m will end up looking like a good deal in the context of our current situation.

Although I do also partly mean that I think his "potential" is a lot more in flux than some of his more optimistic supporters make out. We'll see, though, you never really know and we're all guessing ultimately.

Bit soon to write him off and I hope he does do well eventually as I believe we have quite a sell-on percentage.

A move up to Manchester, but then all the way over to south wales is an awful decision on their part for a 17 year-old.

Swansea play a very similar style to Manchester City so to me it makes sense.. some people on here were saying before the move was announced that he’d go to Swansea because of the  similarities so kudos to them.

Yeah exactly that. I have a sneaking suspicion, personally, that £10m might turn out to be pretty good business for us with Monga, if I'm honest.

It's way too early to say, I said before that I think he's not yet fully developed physically and I think Man City are taking a gamble on him getting perhaps a bit bigger and - maybe more importantly - faster as he finishes physically maturing. I just don't think he's fast enough to be a leading winger and I never saw any indication that he's creative enough while he's here.

I'll hold my hand up and say I thought Page looked mediocre last year and I didn't quite see why some of you were getting so optimistic about him. But that's been a terrible judgement call on my part, I think he looks superb this year. I've been so, so impressed with his vision, some of his through balls are excellent, I'm absolutely in love with his passing range and the bravery of some of his pick-outs. I also love his surging runs through the park, he's a really complete midfielder.

But I never really saw any evidence in Monga having the same sort of vision or ability to pick a pass despite his claims that he thinks he's a more natural 10 than a winger. It'd certainly offset his pace a little bit if he did have a bit of a Maddison / Bernado Silva / David Silva eye for a pass to go with some similarities to their general athletic profile.

I mean he's still a kid, there's years for him to grow into himself as both an athlete and a footballer but all I really saw in him was an extremely accomplished dribbler and there's just so many of those in the sport?

I dunno. I feel like if he came back in to the side now, I don't feel like he'd be any more dominant in this league than he was last year quite frankly?

totally agree about Page. His explosion this season has been a very pleasant surprise. Sure he had potential  and was pretty good but I would have never imagined it would be to this level….

Loaning out a 17 year old is also quite unusual. Moving (as in unrooting) twice in about 3 months at that age isn’t good for development.

Being on loan here and playing even 35 minutes a game in a familiar environment will help

I think Man City see the culture at our club too detrimental to his development. Or at least the culture as it was last season and previous years.

It made far more sense to let him have a year in this academy and then look at options for him. Which is probably what will happen now anyway.

Good luck to him. A young man trying to make the best decisions for his career.

100% this.

Monga and his family were great to us, he could have done like so many others and jumped ship prior any professional deal was agreed.

I don’t know how high his ceiling is but good luck to the lad.
