But what equates to the right experience, especially now as we’re unfortunately a League 1 team. Look at Sheffield Wednesday for example and the signings they’ve made, very much like ourselves, the ages of their recruitment have been a complete mixture. From a pure squad perspective, surely you can see why Russell Martin would be doing this, whether it’s the right or wrong moves we’ll just have to wait and see. As soon as last season ended, two things were vastly important that we needed to get right this summer. 1. Our leadership group, 2. Our culture. From the signings we have made, whether fans agree with them or not, I personally can see why Russell Martin would want to make those kind of signings. Our leadership group over the past few years has been abysmal, it badly needed rectifying this summer, and Russell Martin is clearly going about his business in trying to change it. As I said in my previous post, there was a strong chance of going into the season with Choudhury and BDCR as our main senior pros, no Leicester City fan wanted that to happen. In the past we’ve got our experience right, especially under the Nigel Pearson days, and let’s be honest, some of his experienced signings didn’t have a point to prove. In recent years, especially since 21/22, we have got our experience signings completely wrong. With what we’ve seen in recent years, members of the fanbase are clearly scarred by the signings of Ayew, BDCR and Coady for example, it’s understandable to feel nervous when a player who’s over 30 walks through the Seagrave doors. But as I’ve said above, our leadership group needed to change this summer, this is just Russell Martin trying to rectify it. Profiles of Chaplin, Burns, McCarthy could be exactly what this team has needed, or they might go the way of Ayew and BDCR, of course we just don’t know yet. What I thoroughly agree with though is the contract situations, 3 years instead of 2 for the likes of Chaplin and Burns shows nothing has really changed in that regard. 1

But a team of Stolarzcyk Joseph Nelson Okoli McFarlane Skipp Braybrooke Burns Chaplin Watson Cullen/Bristric is way more likely to get promoted. than a team which has 7 juniors, mavididi, no striker. i think alves, page, evans, carr, aluko will get loads of game time this season, but they won't have to learn the job and win league one at the same time. so fair play to whoever is pulling the strings for getting at least two players that we wouldn't have expected to get hold of, arguably Nelson, Okoli, McFarlane, Skipp, Burns, Watson and Cullen have no place in League One but we have them anyway. A few 'makes sense' signings are the first time i've been positive about Leicester in about 18mths. Edited 6 August by FosseSpark 3

FosseSpark Posted 6 August Posted 6 August could be 3 years at a half decent amount, rather than 1 year on a half decent amount and no security. He can always leave us after 1 year of actually having played and trade up if he needs to. It's his best route to security and so a good choice for him. He will be motivated, at 31 to give of his best.
