Ive been thinking about James Scowcroft and how much he means to the club , And i think he is easily one of are best players at the moment. He may not have the best skills in the world but he does hes job well , what ever the position.MA has played him in midfield for most of his career at Leicester and James has done a good job for us ! He has great aerial ability and also good passing ! Im hoping He dont go Crystal Palace because i want him to stay with us this year and play a key role for us this upcoming season .Scowcroft Don't Go !

Are you on drugs Ash! :o

Scowcroft is a poor player, at this level he does OK but we need better.

Scowcroft isn't a poor player. I, many a time, have slated him but I do think he is a decent player and he is valuable to our club. In div.1 last time he scored a load of goals from right midfield and hit the bar a load of times. If he is played upfront next year I reckon he will do a good job for us.

Evidently he is not a quality Premiership standard player but he is decent and will do a good job for us next year.

It's really unfair to say Scowcroft is a poor player, he's played out of position for the last two seasons. He's a great header of the ball and can cross - leave him alone and give him a season in Division one - although saying that he has no chance of playing as a striker this season.

Underrated and pound for pound one of the best headers of a ball we have.

bothered.

If we could get over a million for him considering his contract is up next summer would be cracking business. He's nothing special, yes he is quite valuable to us but we could easily replace him with a more able winger. As a striker he's a good player, but he won't play there for us so instead of him being a nuisance to the team on the right wing let's get rid and get Partridge or Carlos Edwards in and still have a few hundred grand left.

Admit it, it's pointless him being in the team if we won't play him upfront.

Scowcroft is a great player to have in the squad and has never let us down with his attitude or personality.

On the pitch i think hes an average player and can do what is asked of him, he has had poor games in his time at the club but this doesnt stop him being a very player in squad to have.

I dont think he's ever been sent off, doesnt moan at refs, doesnt fly into tackles, doesnt cause trouble, and trys his best most of the time, i would be sad to see him go.

It's amazing how Scowcroft gets these love him or hate him, no middle ground, opinions on his talent (or lack of). But the opinion that matters the most (when it comes to playing time) is that of the manager. And Micky Adams has given Scowy more starts than any other City outfield player. Playing in position or out of position, Scowcroft certainly seems to have Mickys confidence and barring a financial offer too good to refuse, I don't see Scowy going anywhere.

scowy is a decent player for us, and suits division one football. he is one of these players that doesnt get noticed much when he's playing, then you realise how much you miss him when he aint playing. i can recall stoke at home in the promotion year, no one was winning any headers, and we realised how vital scowcroft was to us in division one. but in the premier league he just aint good enough.

so i agree lets accept a 750k-1 million bid if it happens, but lets keep him if its any lower.

cos he will be vital to us this season.

Amazing isn't it.

Scowcroft is a decent striker, but as a winger he is pointless. Now i'd be happy for him to fight for a place as a striker, but because he won't get the chance to do this then there's no point him being farmed out on the wing. We could get over £500,000 for a player who's contract expires in a year, also we have better players than him and for a small fee we could pick up a winger that has pace.

All this heading malarky is crap too, we have Dublin for an aerial threat along with our centre backs. Scowy missed so many easy chances with his head last season it was lauaghable.

**** him off.

Mmmmmm, laughable eh? - Scowy's not laughable, comments like **** him off, now that's laughable. (or is it lauaghable)

Scowcroft is also a great provider of knock downs with his head. He's not the fastest winger by miles but if it were all down to speed we'd sign Linford Christie.

I just think that he can read the game as well if not better than most and is valuable for that.

True, every player has a price and we'd need to consider selling him if a concrete offer was made of the right amount. To me though he gives us a consistency that we need.

Yeah, sure some people will say that he's consistently crap and that's a view they're entitled to but i'm not sure that they really believe he can be as bad as they make out.

When others have been shown the door slightly ajar over the summer they have gone. When interest was shown in Scowy, he hasn't shown any inclination to be disloyal to the club. Let's have the conversation about him again in a few weeks time.

All i'm saying is the fact that he's playing out of position and it's ridiculous. He wasn't very good at all last season, I rate him as a striker but as a winger he just doesn't make the grade and that's not his fault. He's not a midfielder at the end of the day and this is the reason he has to go. If there was any chance he would play upfront, then i'd be happy for him to stay as he knows where the net is in the lower leagues, but on the wing he's just a player who's being accomodated for the sake of it. Why sign Blake? When Scowy can play there, that's what pisses me off. But Scowy won't ever play in his natural position under Adams so I think he should go, he's so crap on the wing it's untrue. Wingers are meant to have pace and be able to send the crosses in, considering Scowy can't do any of these then for that reason alone he is laughable. Yes he wins the odd header, but as a winger you should be keeping your position, beating players and supplying your strikers with crosses. I'm not talking about Scowy's ability to win headers or even score goals, as this isn't important when your on the wing. He has got to go if he continues to play on the wing.

Very true. The chances are that his opposite number wil be quick and Scowy does not have the pace to get back and assist the full back. Then again you have players that do have the pace but can't be bothered (thats you Gillespie...) :!:
