Phube Posted 21 January 2006 Share Posted 21 January 2006 Mine would be 96/97. To include: Oasis, Blur, Pulp, Cast, Radiohead, Longpigs, Ocean Colour Scene, Manic Street Preachers, Mansun, Shed Seven, Garbage, Space, The Verve... (and many more I've forgotten!!) shen Posted 21 January 2006 Share Posted 21 January 2006 late 60's to the start of the 70's was the peak for me. The 80's pop-dominated music scene was the perfect anti-climax...
Libertine Posted 21 January 2006 Share Posted 21 January 2006 Just the whole of the 90s for me really. It had some awful pop crap etc, but had some great bands too.

muzzysgal Posted 22 January 2006 Share Posted 22 January 2006 For me, I have to say 1982 & 1983. Purely because they were very happy years (if not the happiest years) in my life, and the songs from those years evoke such fab memories. (Well, what did you expect from a sentimental female!?) Nationwider Posted 22 January 2006 Share Posted 22 January 2006 1989 and 1990 for me as I discovered the greatness of the Roses, Orbital, Mozza, The Cure and many others. 1990 wins on a tie-breaker because of the World Cup.
Head Honcho Posted 22 January 2006 Share Posted 22 January 2006 Everything on Deathside's list has to be my best era, but you missed out Magazine, New York Dolls! Oh and Iggy, The Ramones, Pyschedelic Furs, Dickies etc etc ...........but I had a bit of a final fling between 97-99 going to clubs like Godkitchen, Turnmills, Cream, Gatecrasher and the fabulous Hippo Club of Cardiff---Trance at it's best!!!!!!!! Nothing like the bollox they are churning out these days for the masses!

TornadoShaunUK Posted 26 January 2006 Share Posted 26 January 2006 1992 - Bon Jovi - Keep The Faith Hardline - Double Eclipse Def Leppard - Adrenalize Giant - Time To Burn 1992 by far, some quality albums that year and those are the 4 that spring to mind. 1987/88 was a great era for me aswell with some big bands releasing some of their biggest albums. Jordan Posted 26 January 2006 Share Posted 26 January 2006 It's tough for me to say this because, having not been alive at the time, I don't have a first-hand feel for the passion of the underground scene, but I've got to say I agree with Deathside: 1977 - A year that will never be repeated or surpassed The best rock was born between 1976-1979. Also, around that some, there was great roots rock reggae being recorded in Jamaica and the birth of a roots offshoot, dub.
