Would you forgive Taylor - " I deserve the Boos"

I DESERVE THE BOOS

09:30 - 02 March 2006 Hull City manager Peter Taylor anticipates a hostile reception on his first return to Leicester City on Saturday - but admits it will be fully justified.

Taylor returns to his former club for the first time since he was sacked in September 2001 with the Tigers seeking a first win in four games.

His exit signalled the end of an ill-fated 15-month spell in charge of Leicester - a period that supporters do not hold in fond memory.

Taylor admits to having made mistakes during his short stay at Filbert Street and for that reason, he expects a frosty reception from home fans.

He told the Mail: "I know the reaction I'm going to get - I know I'm not popular with Leicester fans.

"They thought I didn't do well enough but thankfully that hasn't happened to me too many times in my career.

"I understand their point of view. If I'd have been a Leicester City supporter at that time, I would have been disappointed, but I can't change my time at Leicester.

"Very few managers go through their career being successful everywhere they go and without making mistakes - I made mistakes there."

Following in the considerable shadow of Foxes fans' favourite Martin O'Neill, Taylor took Leicester to the top of the Premiership.

But with an FA Cup exit to Lawrie Sanchez's Wycombe - and one win in the first eight games of the 2001-02 season, Taylor was shown the door.

Despite resurrecting his career with Brighton and now the Tigers, Taylor still looks back on his time in the East Midlands with disappointment.

"I loved the club and the staff so I will look forward to seeing a lot of friendly faces there," said Taylor.

"I was absolutely gutted when it didn't work out. To lose your job at such a lovely club was very hard to take.

"It upset me to see them go into administration like they did but I think the new stadium had a lot to do with it."

Taylor's first trip back to Leicester will see a much-changed club to the one he left. Along with a new stadium, the Foxes now found themselves in a Championship relegation battle - sitting a point behind City.

"I'm realistic enough to know that I'll get a tough reception but it won't affect me," he added. "I'm just concentrating on going there a getting a result for the good of Hull City.

"We need three points and just because of my history, it won't be extra special. If we get a draw or a win we'll be happy because we'll be likely to stay in the same position.

"As long as we can get a couple of wins soon, I'm very confident that we won't get into any trouble and the same goes for Leicester. I think both teams will stay up because Leicester are in a very false position given their players."

Never, and this seems like a desperate ploy to try to win us over before saturdays game - "Leicester are in a very false position given their players."

Fook off Taylor

Certainly not.

What that article fails to highlight is that Taylor's initial success was purely and simply on the back of O'Neill's accomplishments - it can take time to dismantle something good but Taylor managed to do that in a spectacularly inept fashion.

Let's not over react here fellow LCFC fans, it wasn't a catastrophe or anything, disappointing yes!

He blames admin on the new stadium - which in a way is true - we just didn't budget on getting relegated. And signing loads a crap players on 5 year contracts for loads of money didn't help our cause either!!

For the majority of situations for me it's possible to forgive but never to forget. Taylor ended Leicesters most successful spell in the clubs history and sent us on a spiral towards near extinction. Having said that, I cant forgive him although Babs is right, he didnt set out to be crap.

Assuming PT becomes England boss within his career. How would fellow foxes react. I'm not saying he ever will be, but I for one would find it very difficult supporting one of his teams, with a probable internal turmoil wanting him to fail yet England to win!! :dunno:

A problem on his part was, however, the fact that for a considerable period of time he failed to accept he made mistakes, which showed a high degree of arrogance. Even now he seems unable or unwilling to admit just how crap he was.

Sounds reminicient of someone else we know

apparently he was very poor in the changing room, an uninspiring character, the sort who likes to say "oh well, you did your best". he was the complete opposite to martin in terms of changing room activity.

o.k, he tried, and he never meant to be bad, he just wasn't cut out for such a big job, he couldn't handle it. i won't forgive him though, because with such money at his disposal he should have signed much better players than he did. he wasted the money, and in a sense wasted the progress of previous seasons.

Personally I don't care, it's in the past.

He didn't mean to be crap.

You whaaat? So you wouldn't literally batter him if you saw him in the street? What's up with you boy! :D

I personally can't stand the man, obviously he didn't set out to ruin this club but some people don't set out to commit awful crimes but still do and pay for it. I've always thought Taylor should serve time for what he did to us.

I agree. Its in the past but he was very, very crap. It was too much of a step up for him at the time.

He may be a complete twat but it doesn't mean I'm going to boo him. If I did that to everyone I thought was a twat I wouldn't shut up

He obviously thinks admitting making some mistakes will mellow us out a bit "give them what they want to hear" kind of thing.

I want him to apologise for those mistakes. It was his actions that led us to where we are now. Spending stupid money on average players, extending contracts and paying the ones MON left behind with stupid wages, and so on. Having said that, had the likes of Muzzy and Elliott et al been on a reasonable wage, then I'm sure offers would have come in for them, and we wouldn't have been promoted.

It's alright blaming the stadium for our decline, but it was only a part of the problem. PT played more than a significant part in our financial mess. Until he says he's sorry, I'll never forget nor forgive.

I think it is the duty of every Leicester fan on Saturday to give the man such a torrid time that he at least starts to blubber and better still pleads for forgiveness.

Agreed! I wouldn't ever physically harm the guy, but he does deserve the most horrendous reception ever on saturday and I call on everyone to give him some shit, even if it goes against your morals.

I'm taking to some eggs to throw in the guys face! To batter the living cr@p out of him the street maybe a bit harsh but throwing eggs, bags of p1ss, or poo in the direction of Peter Taylor is justified in my opinion!

Wouldn’t it be great if we could make him cry while standing on the sidelines? Watch him blubber like a small child, and then he runs down the tunnel balling his eyes out like a little girl! That would be sweet

Peter Taylor :welcome: to hell...!!!!!!

Oh no... i'm still gonna give the guy a load of grief at the game. Not because I hate him with a passion though, just because it's a good laugh!! ha.

I'm glad that some of you are such fine human beings that you can forgive him.

Hopefully you'll also be able to forgive the other 20,000 of us that rip the shit out of him on Saturday.

The man is scum!

A friend of mine plays squash with him every so often, she tries to wind me up by saying she is playing squash with taylor does she want me to pass on any meaasges to him. I always tell her to spit on the tosser or wrap the racket around his dense skull.:@ (unfortunately she never does <_< )

I must be missing the sarcasm in your posy DavieG!!!!

In the real world it wasn't like Hurricane Katrina, but in the football world it was a catastrophe of the highest order. We know the story there is no justification for it in anyway.
