beighton155 Posted 25 March 2006 Posted 25 March 2006 Now online. Well fought draw by the lads, although I reckon we dominated a large part of it. They looked good, but not alot better than us. http://www.league-ratings.co.uk
Anish Posted 25 March 2006 Posted 25 March 2006 Henderson 7 Stearman 6 McCarthy 8 Kisnorbo 8.5 Johansson 7 Hughes 6.5 Gudjonsson 7 Williams 7 Maybury 6 Fryatt 8.5 Hume 8.5 - our strikers are superb at the moment, winning lost causes, causing defenders no end of problems, both are technically very good, can hold up the ball well and bring others into play, and their understanding of one another is incredible. They compliment each other so well and I would've liked to see Fryatt stay on the pitch instead of being subbed. Subs: O Grady 6.5 Welsh - N/A not enough time to impress
Mark Posted 25 March 2006 Posted 25 March 2006 Henderson 7 Stearman 7 McCarthy 8 Kisnorbo 9 Johansson 6 Hughes 5 Gudjonsson - 7 Williams - 7 Maybury - 5 Fryatt - 9 Hume - 9 Our two strikers have built up such a great understanding, if we can keep them both here for next season anything is possible.
lookwhaticando Posted 25 March 2006 Posted 25 March 2006 Hume 8.5 - our strikers are superb at the moment, winning lost causes, causing defenders no end of problems, both are technically very good, can hold up the ball well and bring others into play, and their understanding of one another is incredible. As I understand it, the substitution of Fryatt was said to be a precautionary matter for whatever reason. No doubt we'll be told on Monday that he's one of the walking wounded, carrying a slight knock from the game.

No doubt we'll be told on Monday that he's one of the walking wounded, carrying a slight knock from the game. He was a doubt anyway as he's been carrying a groin injury for a couple of weeks.

Henderson - 7 - A crucial save, better kicks today. Stearman - 7 NEJ - 6 McCarthy - 8 Kisnorbo - 8 Maybury - 7 Hughes - 7 - lots of running and good covering from Hughes today. Joey - 7 Williams - 7 - got well stuck in, neat touches, EXCELLENT in the air today. Hume - 9 - Non stop running and a goal. Fryatt - 8 - did very well considering he's carrying an injury
Louise Posted 25 March 2006 Posted 25 March 2006 Although it was the right decision, these subs cost us the game Imo, as going to a 4-5-1 to sit on a lead against the runaway leaders is basically inviting them to score. I agree. Surely that is what Elvis was on the bench for, he might not be the best goalscorer but his pace would certainly have worried their back four a little more than just having O'Grady up there.
davieG Posted 25 March 2006 Posted 25 March 2006 The thing is though we still had 3 good chances to score in the last 5/6 minutes even with just O'Grady up front. Besides conceding the goal from a corner had little to do with the fact that we only had one striker on the pitch and I doubt we would have prevented it with Hammond instead of Welsh on the pitch. The act of substituting a player may have caused a distraction/loss of concentration but Hume was knackered & Fryatt's been carrying a groin injury, so were pretty unavoidable.

And these are two players we really shouldn't be risking.

Jamesino_LCFC Posted 26 March 2006 Posted 26 March 2006 Henderson 8 - Made some great stops in the first and second half to keep City in with a chance of 3 points against the league leaders. Stearman 7 - Had a good game however didnt look too good in the second half after having a bad knock to the head due to some bad communication with him and Williams. Kisnorbo 8.5 - Another fantastic display at the back. Tower of strength, and derserves every round of applause which comes his way from the Leicester fans after some fine defensive works of art. Mccarthy 7 - Shakey in places, making some bad decisions which lead to a corner or two where Reading were given the advantage. Still given the same work rate he has given all season though, which earns him a 7. Johansson 8 - I wonder why this guy used to say he doesnt like being played as a left-back, as the weeks go by, he is looking more and more comfortable, winning headers and making some important clearances and interceptions. Maybury 7.5 - Another solid display by Alan, having some good link up play with Stearman down the right and also linking up well with his two strikers. Williams 8 - Another character where, as the weeks go by, he is looking more and more comfortable and relaxed on the ball. Off the ball, he was getting into more and more challenges which has been the main critisism which has come his way over the past few weeks, played well though. Gudjohnson 7.5 - I dont really know how to score this bguy for this game. Some would say he had a shocker, as you would be convinced that he had just got out of bed with some dangerous, sloppy passing and giving away the ball at crucial times. However, still had some good strikes on goal and was unlucky to hit the post, and if his strike had of gone in, Reading's promotion hopes for the day would have been gone. Hughes 8 - Played well and given another steady performance. I think he deserves extra credit as he is being played on the left and is not a left-sided midfielder. Still looking lightweight at times, but still played well. Humey 9.5 (Jamesino's Man of the Match) - Troubled the Reading defense all day, causing mistakes and rushing them to get rid of the ball as he threw his body at the ball at times. Recieved the ball well and fired home a brilliant goal which not even Chelsea would be able to stop. Yet another brilliant display. Fryatt 9 - Some vibrant city fans would suggest that we have one of the best front-lines in the country, and on this display, who would argue? Matty continuously troubled the Reading defence, with some great foot-work and speedy awareness, and was unlucky when forced Reading's keeper to make a fine save from distance. A brilliant through pass to set up Hume's goal, giving another outstanding performace from the 20-year old.
Leicester Lass Posted 26 March 2006 Posted 26 March 2006 Henderson 7 - Made some great saves but still doesn't fill me with confidence when going for crosses. An obvious improvement in his kicking from a moving ball but is still poor with a dead ball. Stearman 6 - Poor game in my opinion after having such a great season. Was unlucky not to score in the dying seconds. McCarthy 8 - Another solid performance from the skipper, solid as a rock at the back and is forming a great partnership with Kisnorbo. Kisnorbo 9 - What a turnaround from his days under Levein, isn't afraid to stick his boot in and was close to being my MOTM. Some invaluable interceptions and a good day in the air. Johansson 7- Didn't have too much to do, but he was confident in the jobs he did. Is looking much more comfortable now but still struggles against pacey wingers. Hughes 6 - This guy is not a left winger! I found he drifted inside far too often, leaving Nils exposed at LB. Would much prefer to see him in the middle of the park. Gudjonsson 6 - Shocking game from the player of the season, his distribution was poor. When will he learn to play the simple pass rather than looking for the killer ball each time? A couple of good efforts on goal, unlucky not to score. Williams 7 - Much improved performance, seemed to stick his boot in a bit more and was good in the air. Some sublime passes as well. Maybury 6 - This guy is not a right winger! Similarly to Hughesy, drifted inside too often leaving Stearman exposed with Bobby Convey far too often. Fryatt 8.5 - Another great performance from Matty, some good touches and he proved that he provides so much to the team, with great control and hold up play. Hume 9 - STAR MAN. Brilliant performance by Hume, ran himself into the ground yet again and a great finish. Exceptional link up play with Fryatt at times.
coale39 Posted 26 March 2006 Posted 26 March 2006 Stearman was The Times's MOTM. Could/Did he warrent that?
Leicester Lass Posted 26 March 2006 Posted 26 March 2006 Stearman was The Times's MOTM. Could/Did he warrent that? He was poor yesterday!
Anish Posted 26 March 2006 Posted 26 March 2006 Stearman was The Times's MOTM. Could/Did he warrent that? Absolutely not. Shows how much they know. Fryatt, Hume and Kisnorbo were our outstanding players by a mile.
Loake Posted 26 March 2006 Posted 26 March 2006 I think stearman was solid but not man of the match, the two upfront were brilliant and so were the two centre backs.
surrifox Posted 27 March 2006 Posted 27 March 2006 I think stearman was solid but not man of the match, the two upfront were brilliant and so were the two centre backs. Stearman was OK despite the near headed o.g. but not man of the match but then most of today's papers had Doyle which is equally bollox. Kelly's half time talk must have been along the lines of "stop playing lads- we don't want to spoil their big day" judging by the contrast in the 2 halves
