Levein has done nothing wrong, just because he's not as appetising as some of the big boys who we wouldn't ever attract doesn't mean he won't be a great asset. I tell you something, he'll kick this lot in to shape. Dublin, Blake, Dabizas and a few others will be out before Levein's got his red and blue costume on. The Scottish club have not yet given Leicester permission to talk to Levein, but they will not stand in his way. Talks are still being held between the two clubs about compensation, but that is not expected to be a major hurdle. Documents will be drawn up in the morning, with Levein due to sign on with the English club in the evening. Levein will take assistant Peter Houston with him to Walkers Stadium and they will watch Leicester play away to Cardiff City in the Coca-Cola Championship game on Saturday. A proposed meeting between Levein and Hearts' prospective new owner, Vladimir Romanov, did not take place on Thursday. Romanov had hoped to persuade Levein to stay, but both parties felt it would be inappropriate to meet as the head coach had made up his mind to leave and they were scheduled to talk about future signings for the Edinburgh club. Leicester are thought to be prepared to offer Hearts £250,000 in compensation in order to secure the highly-rated Levein as Micky Adams' successor. Levein has established Hearts as the Scottish Premier League's third force and led them into the Uefa Cup for the last three seasons. Dave Bassett is expected to remain as Leicester's director of football, but temporary assistant coach Howard Wilkinson is not thought to be part of the club's future plans. Bassett, who has been caretaker coach of the side since Adams' departure, hailed Levein's achievements at Hearts. On Thursday, Levein sought to distance himself from speculation linking him to Leicester. "He has done a very good job at Hearts and Cowdenbeath before that," he said. "As and when the board want to speak to Craig Levein, that is when I will be getting involved." "We are talking about something which might happen or might not happen," he said. "It is obviously flattering to be linked with a club the size of Leicester. But, at this moment in time, there is nothing to report. " Levein's future at Hearts was brought into question by Romanov's proposed takeover of the club. The Lithuanian is thought to be keen to keep Levein, but after Wednesday's draw with Dundee United the Hearts coach said he had "loads of questions to ask" the businessman. OK, MO(a)N did well in England with you guys but left you on the slide did he not? CL does alter tactics to suit a particular match. Sometimes though if things go Pete Tong he's not the best at turning things round in a match. Though this may have something to do with the quality of player on Hearts' bench as we only have about 14 decent players, the rest being kids or crap on about £500 a week! You will NEVER see a more passionate man as far as his side are concerned. He is not a ranter like O'Neill but is sensible and level headed with it, he simply cares passionately for what he believes in. On one occasion last season he left out Paul Hartley because "he didn't know what it meant to play for a club like Hearts!" When Hartley got another chance he was arguably Hearts best and hardest working player for the remainder of the season and continues to be now. The players at Hearts all love his management style. Hopefully your big names (or bigheads) like Keown and Dublin will give him the opportunity to carry on in this vein. Even if they don't CL won't be afraid to show them the door. Be prepared to work hard lads. Lack of effort will not be the reason if LCFC fail I can assure you of that. On the down side he does tend to be a wee bit defensive away from home. He will take the game to any opposition at Tynecastle (Bordeaux excepted) but if you're a frequent traveller be prepared to try and nick a goal early then defend for 85 minutes. He did this on Wednesday at Dundee United and was lucky to escape with a draw! Although this again may have something to do with player quality at Hearts. We have been without our best striker (Mark de Vries) almost all of the season so far. When he plays Hearts are a different side. Rangers 0-0 (h) Braga 3-1 (h) and 2-2 (a) are the only three games he has played I think and they are without doubt our best results this season! I know 0-0 doesn't sound great but for an hour he rumbled Boumsong and should have scored even though he was about 60% fit, if that. Anyway I've went on far too long I'm sure you will agree. All I can say is you will be getting a top bloke and if your players can fulfil there undoubted ability then you will go far. If they don't and your board don't sack Levein then the Hearts players coming out of contract (de Vries, Steven Pressley, Alan Maybury) will get you promoted next year! And there will be no favourite players which play no matter what, Dublin and Gemmil are Bassets favourites, Scowy mickys.
