escape2victory Posted 10 May 2006 Posted 10 May 2006 Hello all, im new 2 this site. Thought id join so we can have some proper football debates (ive had enough of reading jamesino's posts !!!) Paul Gerrard is out of contract from Forest in the summer and i personally think he is a solid keeper and according to 1 of my Forest mates (only have 2 !!) has been 1 of their better playes this season, and isnt signing a new contract cuz he doesnt want 2 play league 2 again next season. Discuss ?? Ive read alot of posts about people thinking we need to strengthen everywhere, but i think that defence and attack are pretty well covered, and we just need 2 somehow bring in 2 midfielders 2 replace gudjonsson and tiatto. How about Chris Eagles, currently on loan at Watford from Man Utd, and i carnt see Watford extending the loan into next season. I dont agree with people who suggest we need to buy 2 new wingers. I feel we have decent cover on the right with Hughes / Maybury / Sylla (last resort !!). If you look at when Hughes has played his best 4 City, the end of last season (04/05) and the Spurs game, it was when he was on the right, and im expecting a big season from him next season after a decent pre season under his belt. Plus im sure u can remember what happened earlier in the season when we played with 2 out and out wingers (smith and sylla), more often that not being overrun in the middle of the pitch and full back positions.
Louise Posted 10 May 2006 Posted 10 May 2006 Gerrard is an ok 'keeper, but I believe he lives in Liverpool and is unwilling to move (a contentious point at Forest I believe?). I don't know if with Levein leaving we still have a policy of making players move into the area, but it seems likely.

Year i take your point about it being desirable if they lived in the local area, so they get a proper feel for the place and the club, but tbh as long as he keeps shots out of the back of the net, im not bothered where he lives !! plus Ian Walker never lived in the local area and he was a decent keeper for the club

Nationwider Posted 12 May 2006 Posted 12 May 2006 Do we need any more keepers? As Rab, Hendo and Conrad The Barbarian are all under contract (and the offers for them aren't exactly flooding in, are they?), I think we're stuck with those three for another 12 months. Midfield is top of the post-season agenda. B/F goalkeepers for next summer.
Manwell Pablo Posted 12 May 2006 Posted 12 May 2006 Thats not taking into consideration Paul Gerrard is dodgy as fook.
escape2victory Posted 12 May 2006 Author Posted 12 May 2006 You poor bastard, only two mates and to rub it in one of them is a Forest fan, oh well beggers can't be choosers. erm year that was funny, what i meant was two of my vast army of friends are forest fans.

Look at the 2 teams who went up, Reading with Hanneman (sorry about spelling) and Sheff Utd with Kenny. Two quality keepers. Also all four teams who made the play offs have solid keepers which spreads confidence around the team. I dont think Douglas or Henderson have done enough to warrant the number 1 jersey. If we put Douglas on a free tansfer im sure there would be a few interested clubs and the money we can save off that try and bring in someone better or a prem keeper on loan, Taylor ?? Poom ?? or Alexander from Cardiff is having problems with a new contract apparantly which expires next summer, so maybe we could get him for a knock down price

His wages will be more than any Scottish club will want to pay except maybe Celtic, Rangers and Hearts and they wont want him anyway. So it really doesn't matter whether he's upto the job or not we're stuck with him baring a miracle, same pretty much goes for Henderson as well.
NFFC Chris Posted 12 May 2006 Posted 12 May 2006 I will really miss Gerrard at the City Ground next season,a solid reliable keeper which we don't have in Rune Pedersen.I can't see him moving to you,I saw him moving to Ipswich before Royle left but don't know where he will go now,but good look to him unless he moves to the sheepshaggers or you
