Footballing firsts for leicester?

Recommended Posts

Allan Clarke was the most expensive player in English football history when we paid £150,000 for his service in 1969 from Fulham. Then when we sold him a year later to Leeds it was also a record at £165,000. Hard to believe now that we were the BIG money in those days!!

It's actually four clubs that have never been outside the top 2 divisions.

Leicester, Coventry, Arsenal & Everton

:nono: Cov are the only side to have played in every professional division, including Div 3 North and South.

one of Thierry Henrys most memorable games was his 1st for Arsenal as a sub vs Leicester at Highbury. we were 1-0 up and they won 2-1! and the other one where it was last day of the season, we were already relegated and 1-0 up through Paul Dickov trying to stop the unbeaten run, 34,000 gooners ready to cry in 45 mins. they go and win 2-1. Thierry said these were 2 of his faveourite games ever for arsenal at highbury, so if he has a soft spot for us maybe he will end his career here? haha

Also i think Thierry Henry scored his first hat-trick for arsenal againts us, we lost 6 - 1.

No, that was 97-98.

The Henry hat-trick came on Boxing Day 2000 (when we and Arsenal were joint 2nd in the Premiership) and Peter Taylor had the bright idea of having Matt Jones mark him... :o:rolleyes:

  • 2 weeks later...

My memories are hazy but Jimmy Willis was once on a blinding own goal streeak...

But really, anyone who scores own goals in consecutive games can be considered to be on a streak.

And now time for a shameless plug for a video I found - featuring Sinclair himself!

Personally, I think the fourth own goal in that video is one of the classiest you will ever see :P

Lowest ever recorded league attendance 13 v Stockport County in 1921

Might be wrong about this but wasn't the lowest ever attendance (13) between City and Stockport at Old Trafford! Apparently our game was to take place straight after Manure's game as Stockport's ground was unavailable. Only 13 people paid just to see us tho the crowd was much bigger as many who watched the earlier game stayed on.

Still it's a record l'd rather we didn't have!
