I heard the pc brigade was trying to re-name them as auburn snaps. :o Is there actually a p.c brigade, or is this a myth created by the media to sell news papers? discuss :ermm:

Not surprised the P.C. brigade are taking over the world!!!

No, but 'common sense' should prevail, people from either sides sometime go too far, P.Cness should always be done for the best for society not just for the sake of it, eg changing wording of nursery rhymes, totally unnecessary and these people really should ask those it's supposed to offend rather than being 'do gooders' and a P.C. trip!!!

Being from a ethnic minority background, I would not want these people make judgements for what I percieve is correct for my background!!!!

its just one of those things really there will allways be discrimination of some sort

Height

Weight

hair colour

skin colour

the list is never ending...

The media and especially the Red Tops are the worst when picking on people. On the one hand they preach its wrong to Insult and bully people and yet they do it all the time. Take Big Brother - Of course those who go on it are worthy of ridicule.

I have ginger hair and find making a joke about yourself before anyone else gets a chance to is the way to go. Some people are just a bit too sensitive at times. Take a step back and realise that what people are saying to you is basically the truth and get on with life. Life's too short to worry about what colour your hair is and if you're that bothered, dye it.

it possibly stems from historical periods when england was at war with either the scots or irish and the celtic races were more likely to be red haired and thus viewed with suspicion but some things take root into the national psyche and have a tendency to remain; i was always told to not trust those with eyes close together; don't know where this comes from; any ideas ?

I must say I find this topic interesting. Ginger hair ain't a problem over here in Oz (maybe cos we're all Irish or Cornish so there ain't no ginger hair :P ) but my gf who's a pom said something about it the other day. I was like, wtf does that mean?

Guess it's just a nationality thing. What do poms have against gingers?

I prefer people with eyes close together than apart... Some people resemble a hammerhead shark. Perfect example is John Travolta and Uma Therman... I think it was in Pulp Fiction, there's a scene where they're both talking, and the huge difference in their eye distance is quite noticible!

Yeah, I think you may be right. My hair colour skipped a few generations but I think it was my great grandad or great great grandad who had ginger hair. My great great grandad was from Scotland before moving to Ireland etc so I think that's where mine came from.
