Deathside Posted 21 June 2006 Posted 21 June 2006 Why isn't this girl allowed to say what she think's without being vilified? Being drunk is absolutly no excuse for the filth that came out of her mouth One half was aimed at the muslim guys who were wrongly arrested on terrorist charges the other week The other half was directly aimed at the guy I was with (who is african) Bottom line - There is NO excuse for racism

Here's a hypothetical question for you If your daughter was to introduce her new Boyfriend to you and he was black what would your reaction be?
stez Posted 21 June 2006 Posted 21 June 2006 Your right there is no excuse for racism. Here's a hypothetical question for you If your daughter was to introduce her new Boyfriend to you and he was black what would your reaction be? i'll answer ( ) i have a daughter and if she brought a black boyfreind home round here i'd be very very suprised! but, anyway if she did it wouldn't even register. hving moved out here (lincolnshire) a couple of years ago i have been appauled at the amount of low key racism.

OK another hypothetical question If your girlfriend was to introduce you to her Pakistani parents do you think their reaction would be the same as yours?
stez Posted 21 June 2006 Posted 21 June 2006 OK another hypothetical question If your girlfriend was to introduce you to her Pakistani parents do you think their reaction would be the same as yours? well that depends, they might have the same reaction (or non-reaction) as mine re. my daughter or they might act in a different way. it would be impossible for me to say all packistani parents would act that way and all white parents would act this.
Deathside Posted 21 June 2006 Posted 21 June 2006 Your right there is no excuse for racism. Here's a hypothetical question for you If your daughter was to introduce her new Boyfriend to you and he was black what would your reaction be? I would be shocked to the bone to discover that I'm a parent OK another hypothetical question If your girlfriend was to introduce you to her Pakistani parents do you think their reaction would be the same as yours? I doubt it - A lot of people are a bit surprised when they meet me OK so these answers are a bit flippant so I will tell you a little story: If you've read any of my recent posts you'll be aware that I've not long come back from Singapore and that I loved it there Part of what I liked was the culture or ethnic origins mix I was hanging out with people who were Indian, Pakistani, Malaysian, Chinese, Afgan - Everyone got on with everyone On my last day I had a leaving party at the airport - We spent a lot of time singing and taking the pÃÂss out of skinhead songs At one point one guy was singing Kill the white man, kill the white man (totally tongue in cheek) - It took me an age to realise I was the only caucasion there - Which made me realise I don't see colour
The People's Hero Posted 21 June 2006 Posted 21 June 2006 agreed you can't have no excuses!! sounds typical of the sort of person who takes all their views on the world from the front page of the sun!! Damn right. One notch above the Daily Mail anti-everything and everyone brigade.

Daggers Posted 21 June 2006 Author Posted 21 June 2006 My kids (when they grow up) can be straight or gay, and have a partner from whatever ethnic background that takes their fancy. I'm not giving them my permisssion - I hope they'll have learned to ignore everything I say by then anyway (like everyone else that knows me). My only concern for my kids is their happiness and that they accept everyone for 'who' they are, not 'what' they are.

I find it hard to imagine a scenario where someone, who's life is built around the tennants of accptance and understanding, could fall in love with a person who has a credo built on hate, bigotry and distrust. The scenario you offer is an artificial one, and therefore not one in which I could formulate a testable response. Come back and ask me in 15 years Big Mac

Head Honcho Posted 28 June 2006 Posted 28 June 2006 Good news http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/5125668.stm For whom, exactly?
Lemon Harpic Posted 28 June 2006 Posted 28 June 2006 For whom, exactly? Anyone who isn't a complete and utter fascist. The government does not have the right to lock up people on a whim. It's called "rule of law". I'd have thought you'd have been a fan of it?
