All of the second half bookings i saw were bookings... but as soon as you start getting the card out you can't stop, so just be sensible and delay it for a while

Although the Dutch played the silly game, too, I think that the Portuguese players behaved like a bunch of actors, divers, liars and cheaters. The 2nd half went down the drains thanks to their overly exaggerated faked attitude. Feel sorry for the Dutch, who were running after that goal so desperately and who are now left with nothing in hand.

To be honest, the ref brought that on himself by playing it too fast and loose with the cards in the opening half hour. Once he'd booked four or five, the game was lost to the cheaters and divers. If I was the FA, I'd be on the phone to FIFA at 9am tomorrow suggesting they take another look at Figo's headbutt. If Portugal get past England, they might not be able to put out 11 players for the semis due to suspensions and injuries!

Anish Posted 25 June 2006 Posted 25 June 2006 I've lost all respect for Figo after that match - and it seems unlikely that he can be punished for the headbutt seeing as he got booked. Absolutely disgraceful behaviour. I wanted Holland to go through because they are the weaker team but now that Portugal have Costinha, Deco and perhaps Ronaldo out it makes England's chances a lot brighter. Now if England win all you moaners out there will simply use this as an excuse for England's victory

I suppose it depends on exactly what the ref booked him for. He obviously didn't book him for serious foul play - which is what it was - that would have been a straight red. I'm just wondering if FIFA, in their current mood, won't step in and charge him with it anyway? Here's hoping. Either way, a horrible game. I hope that now we're down to the nitty-gritty of the knockout stages, the football isn't going to vanish completely. The group stages produced some great games. Hopefully Argentina-Mexico wasn't a one-off.

And all those involved will be available to play against us. Unless we have a couple of favourable refereeing decisions to help us I still can't see us making the semis. Scolari has got the better of Sven twice already and I see no reason why he can't make it a hat-trick.
