The Italians have always dived to get penaltys to win games. Usually when they can't break down a defence playing fairly. I'm disgusted to be honest. I hope whoever they play in the quarter finals teach then a lesson. (PLEASE)

The defender went down to smother the ball but never made contact with the player. Instead the ball was played to the defender's right leaving the Italian's progress impeded. He then dragged his foot into the Aussie. Result. Obstruction. Free-kick to Italy and a booking for the Italian for ungentlemanly conduct in deliberately contriving the foul by dropping his foot and making contact with the defender. Nothing new but another sour taste.

The fact Italy were even allowed to compete just sums up how corrupt and piss poor FIFA actually is as an organisation. They are ruining the game as a viewing spectacle and the standard of refereeing is the worst I can remember. When people like Graham Poll and Markus Merk are considered the 'best' then you know there are issues.

It is cheating, no other word for it and FIFA are at the heart of it and make no mistake.

I totaly agree the Refs are grabbing all the headlines, not the players as it should be the reffereeing is getting worse as this tournament is progressing, some of the desitions are so over the top.

I still don't understand the sick look on that ref's face when he sent him off. Looked like Red cards give him some sort of sexual thrill.

I've seen archive footage on TV from the mid 70's when the Cheating was at it's worst. And they're defenders would kick opponents to bits to stop them.
