NTL DIGITAL CUSTOMERS BE CAREFUL

I didn't think it was completed yet HERE

...and the worrying aspect is that NTL could just drag them down to their level of operation in the hunt for increased profit.

Take it from me, it's complete. I know because of where I work.:ph34r:

Lets just say the need to improve customer service is understood loud and clear by everyone concerned.

My girlfriend and I were seduced by the NTL tv, phone internet package. Their customer service is truly abysmal. Their staff seem incapable of taking any responsibility and sorting out the slightest problem. When we moved house (about 200yds away) they said they would re-install the line. Then they didn't turn up, then we phoned back and were told NTL couldn't provide us with a service anymore. They said on numerous occaisions a manager would phone back. Of course they didn't. They are now trying to charge us for a service that they are not actually providing.

We are now back with BT - a bit more expensive but the customer service is miles better. I think their tactic is to have enough reasonably satisfied customers to make a profit and **** the rest.

It's exatly what they did to me when i had NTL's TV package, this was a few years ago.

I was alright until i tried to leave when i had Sky installed, they were charging me for a service i didn't want, :banghead: and when they finally cottened on that i didn't want it they wouldn't fetch their set top box, :@ and had to hand it in at their shop. (A shop which is no longer there i might add.):mad::banghead:

The excuses they made were incredible. :protest:

I often wonder why people suffer NTL as I've only ever heard bad tales about them. Does anyone have anything nice to say about NTL?

We payed for 1 megabite Broadband from them between 4 of us for only £10 a month and I think it was about 4 megabite they actually game us, the clowns, yet still only charged us £10 a month.

Thankfully though we never had to deal with their Customer Service or owt, like you I've only heard bad tales about that.

I can't get NTL but my neighbour can, apparently the cabling stopped at his place but on the NTL website it still says I can get it and they send me loads of offers in the post. I suppose it shows how badly run they are!!

Broadcaster BSkyB has entered the broadband war with the launch of a free package for customers of its digital television service.

The group will offer three broadband products, including a free service with download speeds of up to 2Mb and 2GB monthly usage which it said would suit people who surf the internet and use email.

The Sky Broadband Mid package costs £5 a month and offers download speeds of up to 8Mb and 40GB of usage, and suits downloading and sending photos.

Sky Broadband Max costs £10 a month and has download speeds of up to 16Mb and unlimited downloads, with free home installation. Sky said the product was suited to people who frequently download videos or online gaming enthusiasts.

Users of the base or mid broadband packages will have to pay a connection charge of £40 or £20 respectively, and a £50 home installation charge. The minimum subscription period is 12 months.

Sky will invest around £400m in its broadband business over the next three years, and said the venture was expected to be earnings enhancing by 2010.

James Murdoch, chief executive, said: "The business case is clear; we believe our investment will enhance top-line growth, be earnings enhancing from 2010 and with the benefits of scale, deliver increasingly attractive returns thereafter whilst offering substantial savings and compelling value to customers. This is a transformational new initiative for Sky."

BSkyB said it would become the first company to give a free wireless router to all customers, and the first broadband provider to offer 12 months free McAfee Security to all customers.

All three products are available to any Sky digital customer covered by Sky's broadband network. It said the products "offer substantial savings" when compared to other providers and claimed it would help cut some household bills by nearly £300 a year.

New customers can join Sky digital for £15 a month for a minimum of 12 months, and sign up for Sky broadband at the same time. Sky said its network covers 28pc of households in the UK and is expected to reach 70pc of households by the end of 2007.

Sky digital customers who are not covered by Sky's broadband network can sign up to Sky Broadband Connect, which is similar to the Mid package and costs £17 a month.

The group has also relaunched its telephone service Sky Talk, which it said offers unlimited UK landline to landline phone calls for £5 a month plus line rental.

BSkyB also said its pay-TV business was on track to achieve its 2010 targets.

The group will unveil its full-year results on July 28.

The shares fel 12½ to 528½p in early trading.

As a Sky TV user an NTL Broadband.Telephone user I just tried to register an interest but it refused to accept it on the grounds that it didn't recognise my NTL telephone number.
