Daggers Posted 18 July 2006 Posted 18 July 2006 where does the dipstick go? Generally, I hang around the house .. although I like to get out and about in weather like this.
Deathside Posted 19 July 2006 Posted 19 July 2006 The one ("enter monetary unit here") price per litre is the psychological barrier in most developed nations that sell petrol by the litre (as opposed to the American practice of prices-per-gallon). People see the $1/1quid per litre price as the price level at which they can take their bitching to a whole new level. People in Australia, back in 2000 were bitching about the imminent $1 per litre price at the pump (that was a shade under 50p/litre) Over here in Canada people have been bitching about the $1 per litre (that's around 45p/litre) price for a year or so (it happened quickly, just before the big Hurricane Katrina thing in the US, we hit $1/litre. Soon after, the price spiralled to $1.40/litre (62p/litre) within a matter of days. It slipped back down to around $1 and has rarely been seen below $0.90 (40p/litre) since). What really gets on my nerves is the attitude of people over here. They think prices over $1 are criminal. The reason is they all drive cars with 5L V8 engines, or they drive pickup trucks and SUVs that struggle to make 20mpg freewheeling downhill with the wind beind them. They buy big cars with even bigger engines, then moan that the cost of fuel is bankrupting them. Ridiculous. Did UK not switch from per gallon to per litre to avoid £1 per gallon scenario?
Janx Posted 19 July 2006 Posted 19 July 2006 Did UK not switch from per gallon to per litre to avoid £1 per gallon scenario? Nah It was the £2 gallon that we fear bleedin con... we are now at fourquid a gallon....
Deathside Posted 19 July 2006 Posted 19 July 2006 Nah It was the £2 gallon that we fear bleedin con... we are now at fourquid a gallon.... All boades well for my new car then
Janx Posted 19 July 2006 Posted 19 July 2006 All boades well for my new car then well to be fair, although Lisa for one laughs at owners of CHelsea tractors, I like many, are happy to pay the extra Road Tax and High diesel prices in the cain hope that one day the whole middle east thing will work out... not very likely, OR that Geedub and TOne can invent cars that run on water and still give performance... HAving said all that at the moment I am currently doing between 800 and 1000 miles per week shlepping up and down the motorways of Blighty and in this weather and traffic its a darn site more comfortable in this... than this..
