Libertine Posted 22 August 2006 Posted 22 August 2006 Any fans? I bought Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie on Saturday. I've listened to all of Siamese Dream which is awesome. And I'm about halfway through the first disc of Mellon Collie which is just amazing. :pinch:
hairy Posted 23 August 2006 Posted 23 August 2006 Gish is good too but the rest are somewhat wanting, in my opinion. Used to be my fav band. Apparently they are reforming soon but I doubt they will ever be as good as the period your listening to at the moment.
Jay Posted 23 August 2006 Posted 23 August 2006 saw them live many years ago with a little unknown band by the name of The Verve in support!!
Janx Posted 23 August 2006 Posted 23 August 2006 saw them live many years ago with a little unknown band by the name of The Verve in support!! HOW BRENT was THAT!
Jay Posted 23 August 2006 Posted 23 August 2006 HOW BRENT was THAT! you should know me by now Janx I have no thought or opinions of my own just a rather scary habit of repeating other peoples genius!!! oh and of course if you don't know me by now was Brents attempt at a musical career after being made redundant.

Billy and Jimmy are definately in the reunion line-up but that's all we know so far. Nothings been said about James or D'Arcy, but I highly doubt D'Arcy will be back seeing as Billy called her a 'mean spirited drug addict'. It'll most likely be Melissa.
OBO Posted 23 August 2006 Posted 23 August 2006 I loved the Smashing Pumpkins so much when I was younger. I loved them so much that I was even suckered into believing that all that 'Machina' crap was actually good! Brilliant band though, I saw them a couple of times, once in London in 2001 where they were absolutely incredible, and once on the final tour where they were bloody AWFUL - I really think by that point they had got too clever and conceptual for their own good. Siamese Dream is definitely my favourite, I put it on for the first time in ages a few weeks ago and it's still total genius! Mayonaise is probably one of my favourite songs ever.
Deathside Posted 23 August 2006 Posted 23 August 2006 I saw a band play a Pumpkins cover at Pukkelpop last week Unfortunetly(?) I was exceedingly drunk at the time and can't remember which band, which stage or even which Pumpkin song - Doh!! Actually I think the song might have been Tonight, tonight???

That's actually my favourite song of the 'Pumpkins

Drunken memory stirred by seeing a video on Scuzz The band which played Tonight, tonight was Panic At The Disco
Libertine Posted 23 August 2006 Author Posted 23 August 2006 Drunken memory stirred by seeing a video on Scuzz The band which played Tonight, tonight was Panic At The Disco Ah yeh, I heard about that actually.
Leicfox Posted 23 August 2006 Posted 23 August 2006 Mayonaise is probably one of my favourite songs ever Agree that song is pure class.
The People's Hero Posted 24 August 2006 Posted 24 August 2006 The Smashing Pumpkins are awesome. Awesome, awesome, awesome.
Libertine Posted 7 February 2007 Author Posted 7 February 2007 New album 'Zeitgeist' is out 07.07.07.
OBO Posted 7 February 2007 Posted 7 February 2007 New album 'Zeitgeist' is out 07.07.07. I'll give it a chance, but I'm not expecting great things. It just seems like Billy Corgan failed with Zwan, failed with his solo project and is now trying to win back some credibility with the Pumpkins again. Any idea what the line up is? Is Jimmy playing drums, which bassist etc.

No James either more than likely.

No James either more than likely. It would be a bit of a shame if James Iha wasn't part of it. Him and Billy were the only members who survived the whole ordeal the first time around (I think?). At least the drums will be good!

Billy and Jimmy are the main talents but it wouldn't be even be the majority of the original band without James. Which would be rubbish. I'd still see them though.
Darth Fox Posted 8 February 2007 Posted 8 February 2007 Who cares. More importantly Van Halen are reforming with Dave Lee Roth for first time in over 20 years. Much better than whiney Billy Corgan who sings like a cat being slowly ran over by a forklift.
Libertine Posted 8 February 2007 Author Posted 8 February 2007 A lot of people care. Start a Van Halen thread, I won't come and moan.
Libertine Posted 14 February 2008 Author Posted 14 February 2008 Seeing them tonight in Nottingham. Woop.
Libertine Posted 21 March 2009 Author Posted 21 March 2009 Well, Jimmy has left... Just give it up Billy, for Christ's sake.
