lookwhaticando Posted 10 September 2006 Share Posted 10 September 2006 I was thinking we should compile an LCFC dictionary to help those who often get player's names around their necks. A few mistakes appear over and over again, and it seems as if nothing's being done to correct this. The most common of the errors seem to be relating to the following players: Low (aka. Lowe - there's no e, so don't put one in!) McAuley (aka. McCauley - don't go confusing him with McCarthy - different kettle of fish) Stearman (Contrary to popular belief, there's only one of him, not many - so don't say Stearmen) Izzet (He's a legend, you should know how to spell it by now. Thanks bertfox for that one) Lineker (Same thing, he's a legend, learn to spell his name! There's no a in there Odhiambo I'm sure some of you have spotted some others, and might like to add them to the dictionary. Perhaps a spellchecker for forum posts is in order? Putting letters in the wrong place is not the issue here. Plenty of people my typoes - especially as half the forum is drunk when posting, it seems. Adding letters that don't belong certainly is trobling, though.
Finn Claw Posted 10 September 2006 Share Posted 10 September 2006 Well how about a new sweepstake on the number of ways to spell Wesolowski? I tend to go for the slightly simplier Weso option, but perhaps that is me not being ballsy enough to try and spell the full surname....

lookwhaticando Posted 10 September 2006 Author Share Posted 10 September 2006 You know the one that pi55ed me off the most and still does when i see it - Izzett. That's a good'un. I've duly added it to the original post, for maximum effect. I just remembered that Lineker often appears as Linekar and all sorts of things. lookwhaticando Posted 26 October 2006 Author Share Posted 26 October 2006 Done. Thanks Fezzy! Low (aka. Lowe - there's no e, so don't put one in!) David Lowe? Don't complicate things. If Low becomes a more hated player, he may have to be dropped from the dictionary.
