Finnegan Posted 15 September 2006 Posted 15 September 2006 Err, I couldn't see another thread for this, merge it if there is one, sorry? So my Japanese mate came back to London this week and brought with him Pro Evo 6 in it's Japanese form, Winning Eleven 10. Been giving it a bash with him and it's looking like a decent step. One of the big moans about previous Pro Evo installments has been the lack of atmosphere, and, by fock. I was Korea, he was Japan, and I got booed off the park! The telly were up pretty loud but, still, the crowd noise and stadium atmosphere has really been improved. As far as gameplay is concerned, it's looking much sharper. I've only played an hour or so so far, I'll update if I get to play it a bit more, but I've noticed a few things so far: 1. The ref's seem to have stopped picking up on all those tiny, insignificant little 'X' tackles, it's easier to put pressure on a player without fouling him all the time and you can get proper stuck in. The good old diving 'O' from behind produces a few more animations to make Christiano Ronaldo / Wayne Rooney / <insert hate figure here> go down like he's been axed in the legs including one Fifa 95 style flying, rolling dive that made me cheer. 2. There's a new free-kick taking feature, you can tape L1 and R1 to take a 'quick' freekick, your player puts a quick hand on the ball to stop it moving and quickly passes it on for some sneaky, round-the-defence tap ins. Argentina 98 anyone? I could have been wrong, but I think actual shots from freekicks seem a TAD easier to get on target now, too. 3. I was playing as mostly shit teams (Korea and Wales ), but the shooting seems to have been toned back down again. 5 let us whack in some really impressive howitzers if you caught the ball right but the shooting mechanics seem to have been tweaked again, so it might take more getting used to. 4. Graphics are sharper and your players are a little less gangly when anything over 5'8. 5. My personal favourite, here, double tapping 'O' puts in some AWESOME crosses. If you're a Pro Evo player who's good in the air (see 6.) then you'll love this, you can go on a blinding run, double tap 'O' and put in some really, really beautiful looking dipping crosses that loop georgeously over to the back post for some beautiful looking volleys / headers. 6. Heading's been sharpened up a bit, it's easier to hit the target convincingly with a header and beat the keeper with a bit more accuracy. 7. One thing I wasn't so keen on, the whole thing seemed a little bit, mm, slower. I felt the same when I first played Fifa 2005 (after having played 2001 for ages), though, so I might get used to it. It might also have been my imagination and the fact, again, I was playing with weaker sides. Though Robert 'Earltou' just wasn't quick enough for my tastes. (Pembridge still in the Wales squad? Giggs starting up front with Hartson? Bellamy and Earnie both on the bench, no Lewin Nyatanga in sight? Sort it out!) 8. Juventus feature and seemed to have all their best players playing. It was hard to tell who was who as it was all in Japanese but I definately spotted all the old boys. I don't know if we'll get a more updated transfer market / list of teams for the European release given the game's out much later, but only time will tell. Oh, and one I forgot: 9. The AI of the players off the ball seems to have improved as well, your team mates seem to be much smarter. They seemed a little too defensive in mentality for my liking but I imagine that can be changed with the formation settings, though again, I was slightly hampered by the Japanese and couldn't be arsed asking Yosh to traslate every single menu. PS: Not deserving of it's own thread? It's Pro Ev! Far superior to your average Joe nintendo balls! And Pro Evo 6 isn't even out on the Wii! Sort it out!
Manwell Pablo Posted 15 September 2006 Posted 15 September 2006 Come on Phuebous your a bit behind. release date: December 8th at whopping £179.99 Steep.
lookwhaticando Posted 15 September 2006 Posted 15 September 2006 When they realized Sony was going to go in with a high price, Nintendo got in on the act. But at least it's nearly here, unlike the Sony...
Phube Posted 15 September 2006 Author Posted 15 September 2006 Come on Phuebous your a bit behind. release date: December 8th at whopping £179.99 Steep. Some of us have to work (damn it!!), and share our PC's with an office of 6 people... Agreed not too cheap, but you do get it with a game as well!! So that's the console + game, and extra controller, with 2 (more) games ~ £300 That only leave £125 and you could get a Sony PS3 (without even the HDMI cable!!) Plus the £60 games, plus the £1000 HDTV...
