Steven Posted 1 October 2006 Posted 1 October 2006 This was posted on another forum. Posted on Rivals :A tale from a good source. Billy Davis makes it clear he want's to come to Leicester and will resign if given the nod. Message is given to TNBD, Timmytosser insists that we are Leicester City and we do things right. So Leicester approach Preston for permission to talk, get told to **** off - the rest is history Would we really want him?
Babylon Posted 1 October 2006 Posted 1 October 2006 Well he knew of our approach like we all did... so what was stopping him from resigning??
barmy76uk Posted 1 October 2006 Posted 1 October 2006 Well he knew of our approach like we all did... so what was stopping him from resigning?? come off it derby have 2 wins and hes now a good manager,2 weeks ago everbody was calling him!
Babylon Posted 1 October 2006 Posted 1 October 2006 come off it derby have 2 wins and hes now a good manager,2 weeks ago everbody was calling him! Come off what? I don't see your point. We are talking about the summer when he was at Preston after a very good season.
Thracian Posted 1 October 2006 Posted 1 October 2006 Well he knew of our approach like we all did... so what was stopping him from resigning?? Perhaps he saw what happened to Holloway.
ithuriel Posted 1 October 2006 Posted 1 October 2006 after that shambles of looking at managers last season after sacking levein i doubt any manager worth his salt will want to come here with the present set up and no cash. if kelly doesnt pull his finger out and starts doing what he did last season he may still be safe anyway , the next month will see where this season is going unless a miracle happens and a sugar daddy rescues us with lavish signings watched the norwich game today where cotterills side took them apart and the commentators were all doom and gloom on sky sports with worthington preparing for the bullet from the looks of things and they are still doing better than us. maybe we can bamboozle whoever comes in to doing a few swap deals when worthy gets the chop
eaststandtom Posted 1 October 2006 Posted 1 October 2006 davies would have come here and had no money to spend just like rob kelly (everyones hero at the end of last season). kelly has a thankless task lets get behind the guy
ithuriel Posted 1 October 2006 Posted 1 October 2006 the comments the commentators make during are quite funny if you listen. 'that player excites when he dribbles ,' was a good one by pleat who i hate today , talking about eranshaw ,' he is electric when he opens his legs.' sorry for derailing the thread , just in a humouress mood.
Ric Flair Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 Davies would only of had no money if he'd kept the same squad as Kelly has. Look what Davies did at Preston with their squad. He had no money but sold some of their best players and generated cash to strengthen. He has a good eye for a player. Who would have thought that they'd have continued to do well in this league after selling Healy, Lucketti, Cresswell, etc. But he managed to do so with them. Kelly is vastly unproven in the transfer market and that's why if he does sell someone like Stearman or Fryatt to raise funds it's probably not worth it as he'll blow it on dodgy players.
Ultra Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 But Fryatt is injured and Stearman can't even get in the side. So neither of them would fetch a lot right now. If RK had sold anyone, he and the board would have been crucified for a perceived "lack of ambition". You can't have it both ways.

Fryats got a knock on the ankle, we don't know how long he will be out for isn't 2 months just a forum rumour? He will be alright by January, and he aint going before that is he?
Thracian Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 But Fryatt is injured and Stearman can't even get in the side. So neither of them would fetch a lot right now. If RK had sold anyone, he and the board would have been crucified for a perceived "lack of ambition". You can't have it both ways. Manager's have got to be single minded about buying and selling - and a problem is that fans never want to sell good players. A problem for Kelly, as Ric says, is that he's unproven and inexperienced in the transfer market and has shown no signs yet that he can master the main art of managerial buying and selling - which is to get on the right side of the deals. Connolly, for instance, was a great sale. Maximum money for a player who's never going to fetch any more, despite my brainstorm!. Then we got Fryatt and Hume, two players who should be appreciating in value - and a bit of cash to spare, at least so the theory went at the time. But Kelly's signings this summer are worth sod all from what I can see. They are not going to appreciate. So if he'd sold Stearman and not replaced him with better and with someone of potential then any profit on Stearman could quickly have been wasted or swallowed up judging by indications so far. I don't say refusing to sell Stearman was a mistake. But we should have sold Maybury, not because he's a bad player, he's not as a full-back, but because he has no logical future with us. And our dealing priority now should be to trim off anyone who is not going to be a part of the future...while all the while trying to identify a player or two who might improve us and appreciate in value.
Ultra Posted 2 October 2006 Posted 2 October 2006 Ye what Ultra? Fryats got a knock on the ankle, we don't know how long he will be out for isn't 2 months just a forum rumour? No. A club source confirmed it on Saturday. It annoys me why the club couldn't have admitted as much last week.
