Finnegan Posted 6 October 2006 Posted 6 October 2006 You've done Wales proud. Diolch yn fawr! Someone had to.
cisono Posted 6 October 2006 Posted 6 October 2006 Congrats to Sosban. You've done Wales proud. That's actually the only thing I know about Sosban
cisono Posted 6 October 2006 Posted 6 October 2006 It's my best trait. So we shouldn't bother finding out anything else, as it's not worth it?
Finnegan Posted 6 October 2006 Posted 6 October 2006 If that didn't impress you, not sure the rest would.
cisono Posted 6 October 2006 Posted 6 October 2006 Llongyfarchiadau SosbanFach! Has your keyboard gone bonkers, TPH?
Finnegan Posted 6 October 2006 Posted 6 October 2006 Oldest surviving European language! Oldest surviving European language! Oldest surviving European language!
cisono Posted 6 October 2006 Posted 6 October 2006 Oldest surviving European language! Oldest surviving European language! Oldest surviving European language! Are you sure about that?
Finnegan Posted 6 October 2006 Posted 6 October 2006 Are you sure about that? Yup. Latin and Ancient Greek would probably pre-date us, but they're not considered "surviving." This is so beautiful. So much appreciation for the language! I might have to turn a new 1k posts over every six months! Be funny to hear you all try and pronounce what you're typing, mind. Especially TPH.

I actually learnt some Welsh a few years ago. I wasn't very good at pronouncing it all - you're right. I was told when learning Mandarin/Cantonese that I could certainly master those languages in terms of being able to 'do' all the sounds.
Finnegan Posted 6 October 2006 Posted 6 October 2006 Once you've learnt basic pronunciation, Welsh isn't too bad. It's no way near as difficult as it looks, really. Far more vowels than most of you lot realise. (Y and W are.)

It is the intonation that killed my Chinese. You can easily insult people when trying to say the nicest things to them I remember in New Zealand, whenever my boss's boss called the Chinese guy by his name, he actually insulted him! Imagine that....

Guest Posted 6 October 2006 Posted 6 October 2006 Well done Big Saucepan (or is it little? ) Please teach me Welsh.
The People's Hero Posted 6 October 2006 Posted 6 October 2006 OK but can you remember that intonation? I find it easy to copy but hard to actually remember the intonation months later... Buggered if I can remember any Cantonese and I certainly can't remember any Welsh. My memory is awful.
