Manwell Pablo Posted 9 October 2006 Share Posted 9 October 2006 Evenin` all, Can anyone give us a quick summary of Dodds` strengths and weaknesses, has he appeared for your first team at all, what was the injury and what`s his background (eg local lad been on the Foxes` books for donkey`s years? Please post here or at www.nvfc.co.uk (easy registration process) Hope the loan works out for all concerned. There will be quite a bit of pressure on the whole team (incl any newconers) on Saturday given that we have won only 1 out of 7 at home etc etc. Strength: Scores lots of goals Weakness: Does nothing else. Not really got alot of first team experince.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 9 October 2006 Share Posted 9 October 2006 Strength: Scores lots of goals Weakness: Does nothing else. Not really got alot of first team experince. That's the understatement of the day. Truth be told we don't really know what he's capable of at a decent level (no offence) but he scores goals for fun at every level other than first team, just has never been given a chance for some bizarre reason. I will be following his progress with interest.

The sort you think might not be in the game but every match (assuming he's fit after a season of idleness so far) he will conjure up a handful of chances and, odds on he will with score or certainly hit the target regularly. Fits in well with other plays being an efficient passer of the ball but he's not one who gets noticed using lots of energy charging around in no-mans land. He takes a decent free kick to, being well able to bend the ball and will undoubtedly be an asset to you. Scored 60-odd goals in three seasons as an Academy/Reserves player. It is a mystery why he hasn't been given any sort of first team chance and he's likely to be a bit ring-rusted through lack of match practice so your fans will probably need to show a bit of patience. lcfc_jme Posted 10 October 2006 Share Posted 10 October 2006 Good news. RK seems keen on sending guys out on loan - especially the younger lads. Maybe he's doing it so Dodds can gain some first team experience as well before RK uses him in the starting lineup. Hope it works out well for the lad, imo it can only be a positive thing

Dodds was in the squad for that match and I still cannot understand why Sylla was preferred.

Perhaps RK was ill-informed of Dodds' ability to play an Attacking Midfield role.
Thracian Posted 10 October 2006 Share Posted 10 October 2006 Hierarchically easier to leave out more like.
lookwhaticando Posted 10 October 2006 Share Posted 10 October 2006 Hierarchically easier to leave out more like. Maybe, maybe not. Afterall, it was RK himself who froze Sylla out - it would have been quite easy to give Dodds 5-10 minutes and not bother even considering Sylla - he'd been cast into the wilderness. And Sylla's not one of the 'chosen men' who 'secured RK the managers job' (or so the theory goes) - so he doesn't even carry any real weight in a heirarchy. That's what made RK's decision to play Sylla all the more confusing - he's not one of the chosen men, and he'd been frozen out too! Personally, I think we shouldn't continue trying to understand the logic behind playing Sylla - we'll be here all year otherwise.

Manwell Pablo Posted 10 October 2006 Share Posted 10 October 2006 Sylla is a midfielder and Dodds is a striker, maybe we we're happy with 3-1 after 80 minutes?
Thracian Posted 10 October 2006 Share Posted 10 October 2006 Sylla is a midfielder and Dodds is a striker, maybe we we're happy with 3-1 after 80 minutes? Dodds often played attacking midfield for the Reserves. There's admittedly a big difference between him and Sylla. One scores the other doesn't. Thracian Posted 15 October 2006 Share Posted 15 October 2006 Sylla is a midfielder and Dodds is a striker, maybe we we're happy with 3-1 after 80 minutes? Sylla not a midfielder, or a winger or a striker from what I've seen over 12 months. Dodds can play attacking midfield or striker but what you say highlights what I've mentioned in another thread about defending the indefensible when it comes to imported players. davieG Posted 3 November 2006 Share Posted 3 November 2006 Northwich extend Dodds' loan stay Northwich Victoria have secured the loan services of Leicester City striker Louis Dodds for a second month. The 20-year-old forward has scored twice in his first three games for the Conference side. Meanwhile, the Vics have also completed the loan signing of Nottingham Forest midfielder Felix Bastians, 18. Boss Steve Burr said: "We are doing well at the moment and I am really pleased to have both of them to hopefully help us keep it going." source
Fox Genius Posted 3 November 2006 Share Posted 3 November 2006 Went ot See Vics last Saturday in their final FA Cup qualifier against Cambridge. Dodds didn't play, and according to the groundsman, this was becasue we didnt want him cup tied. Does this suggets we anticipate that we may want / need to play him in the competition later this seaso? Or maybe it's a 'just in case'. Apparently in his previous two games he has played really well. In his first he didn't do alot but was feeling his way into the side, which is in line with thracians comments in our previous Tay tar tay (Tharcian ). He made the bench in one of our LC ties, so he might be called upon for an FA cup game - should we have another spell with only two strikers readily available outside the academy.
