Foxhateram Posted 10 October 2006 Posted 10 October 2006 we all remember vs spurs last year vs spurs ok it didnt kick start the season but it was to late at that point, this year if we beat villa, then maybe this could be the kickstart we need and our way upwards, last time we beat villa was a while ago but could this really help us? anyone else agree but even the fact of playing such a side could do the same. what are your veiws? and are you going to the match?
lildave3 Posted 10 October 2006 Posted 10 October 2006 I'm going as long as i can get the tickets. I think that it will be a tight game, daft as it might sound. I do think they'll win but if we were to win, i can't really see it having an effect on our season.
MBK Posted 10 October 2006 Posted 10 October 2006 just to mention that O Neill says he plays a FULL STRENGTH squad for cup games....kind of different from tottenham...I hope we win...but it depends much on our run in the league plus depends more importantly on who and what the new loan player will bring to the side...

Tottenhams was virtually a full strength team.
lcfc_jme Posted 10 October 2006 Posted 10 October 2006 No chance are we gona win !! I'd love us to get one over on Villa and MON, and advance further in the cup for the revenue etc, but I just can't see it happening I hope there's gona be a chance for me to get some tickets for the game though
Tommeh Posted 10 October 2006 Posted 10 October 2006 I think we can win 2-1 or we could get stuffed 5. BUT I doubt very much that it will have any baring on our season, it will just be a one off match to get a full house and some money into the club and a great night (hopefully) for the fans. I'll be there got my tickets in K block as L1 is taken by villa.

Reckon I'd be alright or would it be a good idea to send somebody down for me?? You'll be fine I think. Might be an idea to ring the ticket office sometime this week or early next just to make sure. I really don't think you'll have any problems though

Hopefully he is not though

No, I'm in Spain. If i wasn't I'd be going. Even though we have no chance at all.

I'd love us to get one over on Villa and MON, and advance further in the cup for the revenue etc, but I just can't see it happening I hope there's gona be a chance for me to get some tickets for the game though I'm surprised at you. There's every chance of winning. With the excitement generated by a big crowd, the knowledge that we've seen off Spurs, Charlton and gone very close at Bolton in recent history shows there's nothing we should be negative about. In fact quite the contrary because we almost gave the game away first half with our benevolent opening. It was only when we started putting Spurs under some real pressure and having a go that we suddenly found we weren't so bad. Give us a positive, attacking team selection and we'll give Villa things to think about. MON might be something special but he won't be playing.
steve_wilson101 Posted 11 October 2006 Posted 11 October 2006 All very nice speculation but Rob Kelly and a bunch of poor and underperforming players vs Martin O'Neil and a premiership team - doesn't fill me with confidence that we can get anything other than a hiding. Hope I'm wrong though

Hope I'm wrong though Yeah, Villa will really stick one up us in this game! We've got no chance. I predict another 0-5 to villa Sorry
gatesheadfox Posted 11 October 2006 Posted 11 October 2006 I think we'l lose, fortunately I'm not going to be there to hear any brummie bragging at us. a few part time petes turning up will boost some funding to the club which is always good, it'll be nice for MON to return

True but Spurs and Charlton get knocked out of cups by shit teams most seasons, same could of been said of Villa last year, but during MON's five odd years here how many times did we get upset in the cup? Also Charlton, Spurs, and Bolton, whilst not fielding a reserve team exactly, didn't field the best team they possible could, which Villa will because I think MON thinks he's going all the way in this competition.

Time to give him a shock then.
Thracian Posted 11 October 2006 Posted 11 October 2006 What with Paul Hunter dying, the rain ruining my golf and you lot resigned to getting beaten by Villa this last 24 hours is becoming one I'll be glad to forget!.
Manwell Pablo Posted 11 October 2006 Posted 11 October 2006 What with Paul Hunter dying, the rain ruining my golf and you lot resigned to getting beaten by Villa this last 24 hours is becoming one I'll be glad to forget!. Where has this optimism come from normally your as bad as the rest of us.
ithuriel Posted 11 October 2006 Posted 11 October 2006 Where has this optimism come from normally your as bad as the rest of us. i guess when we have a sheite , underperforming no hoper team optimism for cup games is one of the few things we have left going for us. thus far its a good cup run , survival and hopefully a bit of outside investment which will most likely not happen
Ultra Posted 11 October 2006 Posted 11 October 2006 True but Spurs and Charlton get knocked out of cups by shit teams most seasons, same could of been said of Villa last year, but during MON's five odd years here how many times did we get upset in the cup? We lost at Grimsby in the League Cup (as the holders) under MON. We were also given two almighty scares by Hereford in the FA Cup. So Villa are just as vulnerable as Spurs were last year. I don't guarantee the result will be the same as last year, but am just pointing out that there IS a chance..
Floating Fox Posted 11 October 2006 Posted 11 October 2006 Be pessistic people, come on its the way forward! Getting my tickets at the weekend.
