Back in profit... but for how long

Does anyone else see this as a really unsubtle 'polishing of the bonnet and a spray of new car smell' as it were to entice MM?

To me it seems a hell of a coincidence that the figures be released now. Then again I could be wrong and maybe someone could check when they were released last year. Also I suppose MM would know all this anywayif he is actually interested in the club.

The accounts date is 31 May, so interim figures coming out now could be about right.

It does have that feel to it, but then they've got to clutch at straws, Mandy or no Mandy.

For what it's worth (nothing, incidentally), I reckon he might chance his arm with us if we stay up, and will bring back Bazza Pierpoint with him.

More of the same failed approach then or are you talking proper playrs?

:pinch: Hope not

All I am trying to say is that there are 2 financial factors to a football club - the Asset/Players side, and the 'regular business' side.

Its no use basing our profits on the sale of players as invariable those sales go back into the transfer kitty. We sold Heskey for 11m - but does that help us run the club on a day to day basis - no because it all went back on transfers. So from a NON footballing perspective the club is no better off (assuming the replacements have the same wages etc)

Am I rambling?

I think if he does come he will obviously have done his homework and know that after the gang of four saga the last thing that will get the fans onside to the new regime is the return of Pierpoint.

They were actually released a couple of weeks earlier last year, so timing not relevant on that way

Unlikely. Gate receipts of £4.82 million on an average of around 22,000 suggest that 5000 extra would give you a little over a million.

5k fans extra per game if paying on the way in at £20 a go would generate 100k per GAME.

The bit in bold is the crucial bit, don't you think? I reckon the average, per fan, is something closer to £12.50. Maybe even less.

As the club is a Plc, the accounts have to be filed at Companies House by 31/12/2006 ( seven months after the year end ), so the issue of the figures now would appear to be about right, timing wise, and nothing to do with MM.
