Daggers Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 In the mid-80's violence in the game had increased to unprecedented levels - "football" acted: It banned standing at stadia, removed the ability to drink, made treading on the pitch an offense and raised prices. Over the intervening period we have witnessed the never ending hike in ticket prices, the spiraling of player salaries, the disappearance of the player who understood the words 'club loyalty', corruption percolating through all levels of the game, cheating, diving, play acting, teams full of foreign players starving the national team of talent, commercialisation that turned the game into a product, and the development of a closed shop mentality that forbids anyone within the game talking honestly about any issue within the game. What have we got in return for this bastardisation of the game, our game? Nothing. Nothing at all. Players have now cocooned themselves in a world where they all believe their own hype and don't believe they owe anything to supports...not even a dose of honesty. Managers that aren't lining their own pockets are busy trying to cope with over-inflated ego's. Boards, and the FA, demonstrate the managerial acumen of a bunch of contestants on The Apprentice. Worst of all, the state of play on the pitch. How many teams operate a passing, flowing, attacking approach - the one demanded by supporters across the world? How many players bother to develop their skillsets in order to do this? How many players get into their little comfort zone and stay there, amassing their riches off our backs? Hang on...I was wrong, what have we got in return for this bastardisation of the game, our game? A free flag and some fading memories of when football used to be fun.
Daggers Posted 12 October 2006 Author Posted 12 October 2006 It is time: to get rid of agents to cap player salaries to cap transfer fees to enforce openess into transfer deals to ban kicking the ball out when someone feigns injury to have a TV referee to cap ticket prices to ban the yearly change of kits to limit the number of foreign players per team to enforce a number of local players in each team In short, it is time for football to sort itself the **** out and start behaving in a responsible manner. A responsible, open and honest manner.

Daggers Posted 12 October 2006 Author Posted 12 October 2006 Behave yourself Bob everything is fine and dandy as you well know... OMG! They got you too? I am not a number, I AM A FREE MAN! The FA? What the hell are you doing in my lounge? Hey! Stop that! What are you doin... *The FA would like to state that Disco Bob has withdrawn his previous rants and agrees that The World Of Football © is indeed rosy and everything is hunky-dory and shit. He thinks that nothing should change except for maybe bi-annual new strips and monthly increases in ticket prices in order to reward the hard-working chaps that make all this fun possible. There is no problem, everything is fine, look into our eyes, our eyes, not around the eyes, look into our eyes...*
Maybes Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 The FA are too much up their own arses. As for football today, i agree on the salary caps but i think transfees fees should not be capped, as its funny watching chelsea pay silly money for players!!

A responsible, open and honest manner. If you're prepared to add managers/coaches who love the game and want to see it played in the open, exciting manner it was meant to be played then you'd pretty well have a full house there...apart perhaps from limiting the amount individual clubs can spend on their teams so we have a proper contest.

A responsible, open and honest manner. Sounds like a fooking fantastic idea to me. That'd give all smaller clubs a chance to compete, it'd make things more exciting and it'd improve the National side without a doubt. I'd also like a rule that states a player should only be paid if they give their all and don't just go through the motions 'cos they're in it for the money and couldn't really give a shit about the game or the club/fans they're playing for. It'll never happen, but I'd love to see something like that. Players should give their all anyway imo, but 'cos they are paid so highly, a lot of them can't be fooking arsed and it really does me tree in.
