Reading v Chelsea

Chelsea lost Cech in the first minute. Well I say first minute, he went down in the first minute, and finally left the field about 6 minutes later!

Then, Mikel got sent off for being a twat and pulling the shirt of a defender when the defender ran off with the ball. Second yellow, good-bye you useless tosser.

Then Bikey got his second yellow when Drogba fell over his own feet (so it seemed).

Then, in the dying seconds, Cudicini - who replaced Cech - was clattered by an in-rushing Reading defender (Sonko). He went down like a sack of spuds and lay there lifeless. About 8 minutes later he was finally stretchered off.

All in all, the amount of football played was about 110 minutes including all stoppages. Absolutely idioitc.

Right before the final whistle, a Chelsea coach was sent to the stands for causing trouble near the touchline.

Biggest farce so far this season.

Funny about Chelsea's keepers though, will be funny if they're both out for a couple of moths. :D

They've probably got about 6 Leeds United youngsters to call up  (Allegedly)

Just seen the challenge by Sonko on Cudicini. It's the worst challenge I've seen for a long time, and that includes the Ben Thatcher incident.

Alan Shearer on MOTD seemed to think there was no intent, so Sonko may escape punishment, but I'm not convinced.

Mourinho seemed more perturbed about the challenge on Cech, but the cameras couldn't really establish intent on that one.

Said on radio that the attackeras knee just caught cech in the head. Sounded like there was no intent.

You could get up early at the crack of dawn and watch motd?

Looks like they'll be down to just the one keeper v. Barcelona then..

And when they lose to Barcelona, Moanihno will claim boldly that "Barcelona have never beaten us when we've had all 11 players and our first choice goalkeepers"

I don't see how anyone watching the head injuries inflicted upon the two keepers could call it "funny". :nono:

I may reserve a place in hell for Chelsea, but I hope they both make swift and full recoveries.

what a load of rubbish, both were complete accidents with no intent on either challenge.

Agreed, 50/50 balls where the striker has the right to go in. If you wanted to kick someone in the head you don't do it with your knee!

He wasn;t saying that the injuries were funny, he was saying the fact chelsea are missing their 2 main goalkeepers is funny?

Chelsea have confirmed that goalkeeper Petr Cech has had surgery on what has now been confirmed as a 'depressed fracture' to his skull.

Cech was injured in the opening minutes of the champions' 1-0 win at Reading following a collision with Reading midfielder Stephen Hunt.

The club have now revealed the extent of Cech's injuries, which required an operation.

Cech's understudy Carlo Cudicini, who was also stretched off after colliding with Ibrahim Sonko, was discharged from hospital.

"Chelsea Football Club can confirm that Petr Cech was transferred to the Radcliffe Infirmary in Oxford to the specialist neuro-surgical unit," read the Chelsea statement.

"He underwent surgery for a depressed fracture of the skull.

"The operation was successful but it is too early to give an accurate assessment of his condition.

"Naturally everybody at Chelsea wishes Petr, and Carlo Cudicini - who was discharged last night after being knocked unconscious - a speedy recovery from their injuries."

Jose Mourinho was less than happy with Hunt's challenge and the club have confirmed they will be contacting the Football Association about the incident.

"Chelsea FC has reviewed the video of both incidents. We endorse the post-match comments of Jose Mourinho regarding the seriousness of these incidents.

"Chelsea will be writing to the Football Association with our observations."

:yesyes:

I sincerely hope two of the leagues best keepers make full recoveries, I have nothing against either of them.

What's 'funny' about it, in a sense, is you can imagine Moanihno's comments in the event they get tonked by Barcelona without either of these keepers.

How long will he be out then? It's a shame because he is one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

I thought the Cech incident was unfortunate, but it would be difficult to prove any intent on a sliipy surface.

I initally thought the Cudicini incident was unfortunate too, but after a second viewing, the attacker was so late it was embarrassing - he had no hope of getting the ball, so what was he doing there? He didn't have the excuse of the wet ground either as he flew through the air.

No intent on either but both looked very painful. Cudicini was out cold and Cech was out of it aswell. What was up with Mikel and Bikey though? Having right tantrums the both of them. Not like you could argue with the sendings off either.

Mikel has marked his card IMO. What a stroppy little brat. First the whole Man Utd saga, now he sees red (deservedly) after two bad challenges against Reading and the toys come out the pram.

Pathetic.

And he hasn't shown any glimpses of why Jose payed 16 million to bring him in.
