davieG Posted 12 December 2004 Share Posted 12 December 2004 These lists are ok but should not be taken too seriously as they are just a snap shot in time being severly distorted by what are currently seen as 'good films', dare I say mostly by young people who through no fault of their own havn't seen too many. So there are films in there that have not stood the test of time. Some of the films I saw as a teenager blew my mind but in retrospect they were rubbish. Others that my have been considered classics have been so over exposed they've lost their edge and originality. Among my favcurites are the The Shawshank Redemption, Lawrence of Arabia, Some Like It Hot, The Great Escape and The Apartment.
TrickyTrev Posted 12 December 2004 Share Posted 12 December 2004 That film database is a quality site actually, if you want to get a film you can guarentee it will be reviewed on there. The problem with the list is that all of the films have about the same ranking, there can be 30 films with the same score. The Godfather has somehow managed to outscore Godfather part 2 aswell, which is obviously rubbish. My favorite film is probably A Clockwork Orange directed by Stanley Kubrick. it's bit sick on your first watch buit very rewarding after several watches.
