foxesfan69 Posted 2 January 2005 Posted 2 January 2005 On teletext it says that City are close to completing the signing of Maybury and are in advanced talks with De Vries. Hopefully all true.
Mark Posted 2 January 2005 Posted 2 January 2005 I'd be happy with Maybury. Less than happy with De Vries.
Scow Posted 2 January 2005 Posted 2 January 2005 De Vries has scored one league goal all season, and has been plagued with injuries. Hearts fans want rid, so it doesn't sound promising.

City Fan Posted 2 January 2005 Posted 2 January 2005 Would be quite happy with Maybury and De Vries, as long as we don't break our budget to sign them. There are other players we could surely get, Marian Pahars for one....

All this is going to encourage is more boring long ball football. Hearts were known to this type of play under Levein. It also looks like he's injury prone. Got to be better than Scowcroft, but not very much.
Anish Posted 2 January 2005 Posted 2 January 2005 Can't be worse than Benji, Blake or Scowy - although his injuries and fitness are a major concern. I personally don't want him for the aforementioned reasons.
Cobbo Posted 2 January 2005 Posted 2 January 2005 Never seen him play, will reserve judgement until after a few games if he does sign. Will just be nice to see a new face in the team who may want to win games, as oppose to the load of crap we have had for most of the season.
Highland Posted 3 January 2005 Posted 3 January 2005 If he comes I'd like to see him play ten matches before the slagging off starts, got to give the guy a chance. Some people have decided hes useless before seeing him kick a ball.Anyway if he does choose to come here it will piss Warnock off no end which can only be a good thing.

I'll reserve judgement on both players until I haver seen them play for a few games.
Sparky Posted 3 January 2005 Posted 3 January 2005 me too , come on guys lets see what he can do before we slag the guy off
Anish Posted 3 January 2005 Posted 3 January 2005 If we want tall, can't we get Jan Koller in. 51476 Jan Koller is quality!
Mark Posted 3 January 2005 Posted 3 January 2005 After reading a Hearts forum, every Hearts fan are gutted that Maybury is leaving - one of the best players to ever play for them. But the majority are not bothered that De Vries is off. Worryingly, some of their comments reminded me of Scowcroft... sod off mdv lazy non interested git You'll get about three decents games out of him per season. Enjoy.
Muz Posted 3 January 2005 Posted 3 January 2005 Well we'll lets CL judge if he's good enough. I trust CL's choices
Ric Flair Posted 4 January 2005 Posted 4 January 2005 It looks like they are both coming then! According to alot of websites we have agreed fees for them both and they'll be here soon. I am pretty excited to be honest because at the end of the day they are bound to be better than the shower of shite we've currently got. Maybury sounds the business, hopefully that's the end of Makin who's too inconsistent for my liking. De Vries was a god up at Hearts before this season, it appears he's gone off the boil because he wants out from them. Look at his scoring record before this season and it's worth a punt, he'll have a good chance of being better than Scowcroft, Dublin, Blake, Benjamin and Morris. So what's the problem? The law of averages says that we'll stumble across a goal scorer one day, so perhaps today is the day. Get behind them, this is the last bit of optimism we can have this season because if we don't put a run together this month we're ****ed. Oooh De Vries you should of seen us coming (to the tune of that song the geordies sing. Oooh me lads...........)
foxesfan69 Posted 4 January 2005 Author Posted 4 January 2005 If De Vries is a lazy b*****d like the Hearts fans make out, then surely CL will drop him because at Hearts they probably had not many other options but to play him but at City it will be different.(i think )

foxesfan69 Posted 4 January 2005 Author Posted 4 January 2005 but if Scowy doesn't leave then that is another option for CL so the players will have to work harder for their place.
Collymore Posted 4 January 2005 Posted 4 January 2005 but if Scowy doesn't leave then that is another option for CL so the players will have to work harder for their place. 51561 But i think Scowy honestly doesn't want to be at the club so having 10 players snapping at his heals isn't going to make a difference. Then De'vries will be under no pressure and its a vicious circle of lazyness and lack of spirit.
