Scow Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 I have some sympathy for Low. He made a positive impression when he first played. He provided width and good service from the right. Slowly but surely, he's gradually got worse though. I think some of it's down to confidence, and some of it's down to the opposition sussing him out. The crowd getting on his back doesn't help. My personal opinion of him is that he's a good crosser of the ball, but the rest of his game is limited. He doesn't have the pace or ability to make much of an impact. He's essentially a poorer version of Nicky Summerbee and James Scowcroft rolled in one. As for my suggestion on the right, something a little different here. I think O'Grady can play there. He came through the youth ranks playing on the wing. Whilst he's not lightening quick, he's still got enough pace and power to give full backs a problem, along with having good feet. He'll even provide an aerial threat. I even think Hume can play there as well (Which he's done for Tranmere) but we'll missing his talent further up the field. Realistically, Hughes seems to be option for now - best out of a very bad bunch.
Chrysalis Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 The point of discussing it is that if Kelly doesn't get sacked and if Kelly doesn't find someone who can get into the penalty box from midfield then, without Mandaric's money (and that's not arrived yet) we are likely to get relegated. And we'll get relegated because we won't score enough goals. King is the main option because I wouldn't be surprised if Gradel's farmed out somewhere in January. We wont be relegated kelly appears to have enough about him to get wins when we fall around the bottom 3 area, the problem is he cant move on from there and once we get clear we start losing again.
RowlattsFox Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 i would play hume there myself but out of the choices i would go for hughes.
Flynny Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 I've been saying Hume for ages but Elvis works too. He can do everything but shoot and on the wing he's gonna be less likely to need to. Can he cross, though?
lcfc_jme Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 Hume's wasted on a wing IMO. Aye. If he wasn't playing as a striker himself, he could drop just behind the striker(s) and play infront of the midfield. I think that may actually suit his game a bit more anyway as this is the role he usually tends to take up when playing for us.
Flynny Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 Hume's wasted on a wing IMO. You're probably right. When you've got Fryatt, Elvis and Hume, I agree, I'd rather shove Elvis on the wing than Hume.
Simi Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 I think maybe eventually Danny C could play there. But for now I would choose Sylla or Hughes. Sylla did not do an awful lot wrong in the games he played around the Villa game.
Leicester's 12th Man Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 Danny C for me, juding by his performance vs. Sunderland he's done enough to get a starting spot on the right wing for the next match (providing he is fit and eligible)
Manwell Pablo Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 Hume's wasted on a wing IMO. I don't think he would be wasted, he's not a natural striker. The goals he scores aren't strikers goals IMO,I think he may even prove more effective out on the right, he has shown he likes to drop deep so why not play him deep, we might actually have a right winger he can score pass and dribble, wouldn't that be a novelty. The FA Cup game would be a ideal time to try it. I think alot could be said for Fryatt up front with one of our other wasters and Hume on the right.
Joe. Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 I would like to see Hume start on the right. Wouldn't be a bad idea at all
Fez of Mahrez Posted 2 January 2007 Posted 2 January 2007 More of an idea again now that he's stopped scoring. Wasn't feasible a few weeks ago when he looked like our only hope of a goal. Now that no-one looks remotely like scoring, we might as well stick him back in midfield and let Fryatt and Elvis have a run in the team together up front. Won't happen in a million years though.
uncle_connolly Posted 3 January 2007 Posted 3 January 2007 Hughes but this position is a serious problem and I would attend to it instantly if Mandaric comes in.
