Fez of Mahrez Posted 26 January 2007 Posted 26 January 2007 Mine is Papa Cino's in the centre of Northampton. Basement Italian. Fantastic pizzas, likeable waiting staff, decent prices. Going to a relatively new place tomorrow though, it's a member's piano bar by night but does a 3-course lunch for a tenner. Planning to stuff my face.
JoeyB Posted 26 January 2007 Posted 26 January 2007 jee-jah-jees 10 min walk from my house in kegworth

A tenner for a three course meal? That's a right good bargain there
Filbert_Ross Posted 26 January 2007 Posted 26 January 2007 i like 'little tokyo' down braunstone gate not sure on my favourate though.
fox123 Posted 26 January 2007 Posted 26 January 2007 favourites would be: Chinese - The Teracota in town - Eat all you want for about £12 Italian - Little Italy London Road - Their garlic muscles and fillet steak are superb Indian - Laguna Narborough Road - Great Service and excellent food. General - The Harvester Burbage - Just cuz i like their salad cart Fish n Chips - Grimsbys London Road - Yum Yum
cisono Posted 26 January 2007 Posted 26 January 2007 Not telling you! Don't want everyone to start going out to eat there... waiting times would increase!!!
Monk Posted 26 January 2007 Posted 26 January 2007 Just been to a place cally Tayyabs in the East end of London, near my Office. It is my fave place - they do absolutely awesome curries, and its almost physiczally impossible to spend more than £10 a head and eat it all. Awesome. But I spilt some down me. I need to get the Vanish out!

Alexikokopops Posted 27 January 2007 Posted 27 January 2007 The Mowgli Indian restaurant in my village. Also a fan of the Oriental Star in Leamington. Not exquisite food, but it's an all you can eat Chinese. I enjoy it mainly because it's £3.50 for a large tub which you can fill with whatever you like, and eat enough for two while you're filling it up. Sure beats a McDonalds for lunch when you're in the centre of town. WEGUA!!
The People's Hero Posted 27 January 2007 Posted 27 January 2007 I'm fairly lucky in that I get to eat out quite a lot for nothing/very little due to knowing a number of people involved in reviewing/critiquing restaurants in Kent as well as having got to know the propreitors/staff now quite well. Anyone who is ever down in Kent should check out the following: Bearsted - Souffles. Exceptional... expensive but fantastic. One drawback is the waiting times but everything is so fresh and the presentation is top notch. Maidstone - Flaming Henrys - Best steak in my local area, no contest. Bearsted - Oak on the Green. More of a pub, with a specialism towards South American cuisine. Some North American too. Anything from cajun dishes, mexican dishes and even some thai curries sit alongside traditional english favourites including braised steak caserole and a slow roasted lamb shank with garlic mash. Fantastic - going tonight. West Malling - The Swan - pretentious, overpriced and owned by wankers. The food is good though, very good. Probably my choice locally if going for European cuisine. Am trying another two this week, both of which will be new to me. Shame I don't do this sort of stuff in Leicester really, as the above will be pretty useless to you lot!

It just highlighted where you could look to cut down on your outgoings (should you still want to)

Frenzied Posted 27 January 2007 Posted 27 January 2007 What is in it? All sorts of tasty curried meat dishes - it's great. PS The Taj Mahal on Highfield Street is spot-on too.
Thracian Posted 27 January 2007 Posted 27 January 2007 Reading TPH's suggestions for a bit of "Southern Comfort" reminds me that my lad mentioned they'd got a couple of nice restaurants in Bray, Berkshire. There are only three Michelin triple-star restaurants in Britian and two of them are in Bray ............... The Fat Duck, which was adjudged the best restaurant in the world by Restaurant magazine in 2005, and the Waterside Inn, which ranked 19 in Restaurant's list. My son chose the Waterside because the menu suited his tastes and he'd heard such good reports and afterwards assured me it was the culinary experience of a lifetime, something he and his wife would never forget. So if you've someone special you want to treat...!
