lildave3 Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 For many a years in Catania has just had a suspension in play after 52 minutes! Wonder why? Answers on a postcard! Well Palermo scored on 50 minutes, i'm guessing something to do with that?
Head Honcho Posted 2 February 2007 Author Posted 2 February 2007 Well Palermo scored on 50 minutes, i'm guessing something to do with that? Andrea Caracciolo scored and was booked straight away along with a Catania player so probably all kicked off Back on now and 1-1 after 61 mins
Manwell Pablo Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 Catania are having a fantastic season, espically when you consider the size of the club, and the squad for the matter. Gionatha Spinesi and Fabio Caserta have looked fantastic.

MC Prussian Posted 2 February 2007 Posted 2 February 2007 Allen, get yer records straight: There has already been a Sicilian Derby... Last year... But I do generally fancy some more fighting on the pitch. Makes it look like hockey.
lcfc_jme Posted 3 February 2007 Posted 3 February 2007 And we think some of the trouble/violence/stewarding is bad at our grounds. A policeman was needlessly killed by football "fans". Disgraceful. It's a very sad state of affairs.

Differnt world is Italy mate, Alot of these people have what you wish for, Cheap tickets, standing all game and reems of die hard fans that sing through out the whole game, fans who enjoy "banter" people who would die for their club so to speak. This is the result.
lcfc_jme Posted 3 February 2007 Posted 3 February 2007 Differnt world is Italy mate, Alot of these people have what you wish for, Cheap tickets though I'm currently fine with the cost of our tickets, standing all game something which worked fine over here more often than not and reems of die hard fans that sing through out the whole game nothing wrong with singing for the entire game - that doesn't make people kill police, fans who enjoy "banter" banter or hooliganism?? It's much worse there than it is here people who would die for their club so to speak. I'm sure a lot of City fans would "so to speak" but they wouldn't kill police officers This is the result. Honestly Manwell, I may have read your post wrong or it may have come across in the wrong way to me, but I can't believe you're even insinuating what we want is anything like what happened at this game. Italian fans are much more hostile than ours imo, and their Ultras groups are much more radical then we'll ever be.
Geo V Posted 3 February 2007 Posted 3 February 2007 Original nutters. Having watched a couple of games in Italy and also in Greece, I can say without doubt that these buggers are lunatics and make our so called hooligans seem like Mary Poppins. The disgraceful stuff that went on typifies that they take football too seriously as it takes over there lives and they dont care about the consequences. Fine the clubs heavily concerned and deduct points and you`ll see the clubs act. Fining clubs £500 on issues like racism orviolence does nothing. They need to make a stance.

I'm not saying you do want that or that will ever happen, just that massive changes to our system to improve atmosphere could reasult in the return of the kind of scenes witnessed in this country 20 years ago. The lack of violence in this country is down the FA dealing with it. Our fans can be very nasty, look at some videos from the 80's. The English FA made massive changes to the stadiums priceing structure etc to change things, something Italy need to do now.

Sly Posted 3 February 2007 Posted 3 February 2007 Football is a game, football is about entertainment. Unfortuantely football has an ugly side and what happended last night was nothing short of a disgrace. Italian football needs to take a long hard look at its self. After the match fixing scandals, racial abuse issues and now this. If that had been England what what the worlds media be saying now? Banned from European football maybe?

lcfc_jme Posted 3 February 2007 Posted 3 February 2007 The English FA made massive changes to the stadiums priceing structure etc to change things, something Italy need to do now. Isn't this the main reason they have suspended football in Italy? I saw something on the news which said they're looking to make major changes to how things run over there in order to ensure nothing like this ever happens again and the whole thing is just a freak accident which will be prevented in future.

They have problems with bad violence in Italy for ages now this wasn't a one off, don't you remember Boro's game with Roma last season? Big kick offs at that game. It's got even worse this season violence is a weekly occurance. Seriouly they've attempted everything to try and stop it without going down the same routes that we did here in England, Italian fans sometimes got locked in the away inclousre for two hours after a football game to try and stop violence. It doesn't work. As you say hopefully now they'll sort it out once and for all.

If the fans don't behave then the club suffers. Thats my point of view. This will only work though if the hooligans are there for the football and just there to cause trouble and don't really give two hoots about the team.

Leonisco Posted 4 February 2007 Posted 4 February 2007 You know if this had been in England there'd be absolute uproar. UEFA would probably ban us from all international competitions and make all our league games be played behind closed doors or something. <_<
