Geo V Posted 7 February 2007 Posted 7 February 2007 Quick question: How many times has the referee awarded a free kick to England due to Peter Crouch? Maybe I should ask that, When will he award a free kick for him? Its pathetic, especially the last one. The ppor bloke suffers from his Ian Ormondroyd looks . He does nothing wrong but gets penalised. Its almost like the refs (and it is refs as todays was no exception) seem to award a free-kick against him to balance things ashe is cheating for being too tall Well, I only caught the 2nd half of tonights game and what a load of knads. For the first time inmy life I backed against England to win a game and they obliged. You could see how the game was going to go before a ball was kicked and they just didnt create enough for me. We have a real lack of creative midfielders in England compared to the old days of playmakers and we, like Liverpool, really too much on Gerrard. I dont get understand the fuss of Carrick as he is over-rated IMO, I dont think that Lamps can play in midfield with Gerrard as you need a ball winner in there and we are desperate to get Rooney, Joe Cole and Lennon back so that they can break through defences. Likewise, we need Hargreaves to come in for Carrick but in our sports we are such pussies in making the big decisions ie, LETS NOT ACCOMDATE PLAYERS AND LETS PLAY OUR BEST AND TELL THE UNDER-PERFORMERS TO FUDGE OFF (Cricket selectors please take note ). Back to the game, Woodgate was being raved again until Torres done him like a kipper to create a goal which was poor defending. I hope that McClaren gets it right but IMO he is not qualified to be managing the England national team. i just hope the average Joe and gutter tabloid press get over there pride and decide to pick the best man for the job again, even if its a foreigner. McClaren is taking us to lows that Sven never did and at least the dodgy Swede revived our football when KK fudged off and masterminded that 5-1 win away in Germany to progress in one comp and then helped us qualify for the World Cup the next. Get Wenger in and kick Mac out....
Manwell Pablo Posted 8 February 2007 Author Posted 8 February 2007 It would be nice now in hindsight to hear from all the armchair managers who hounded Eriksson out.As if it was that simple....... Indeed and we can see them all here http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/index.ph...c=21856&hl= I was going to save this until we fail/scrape qualfication but seeing as you've bought it up I'll do it now. Well in typical English fashion we have started to point the finger in all directions, referee, manager, David Beckham no doubt. Good job Haregreaves had a good game otherwise he would be in for a ripping come the Sunday papers. Shame we can't just admit they we arent't a top 4 team. However amongst all this crap I would like to say good bye and good luck to Sven Goran Erickson and thank him for three consecutive quater finals in major tournaments. The night we beat Germany 5-1 is amongst one of the sweetes nights of my life, and he has at least made the last 3 tournaments intresting. His choices of subs (and this time squad) have not always been in favour with public opinion, however come the Mclaren reign we will wish he was England manager again. Dark times ahead people. EDIT: would like to give a big shout out to Fiiber way, still laughing are we?
Geo V Posted 8 February 2007 Posted 8 February 2007 Ive had this arguement with so many people down the months and despite Sven being quite a one-dimentional manager, I always got the feeling that we were doing OK without excelling. With McClaren at the helm I have been edgy from the start despite the walloping that England gave Greece in the first game (Greece notoriously are shite in friendlies and cant be ar$ed but are a different proposition in competitive games, as many remember they won Euro 2004 and if it wasnt for Becks wonder strike in the 96th min would have sent us to the play-offs. They also have a 100% record in this campaign). I think that the gutter tabloids wanted him out because he was foriegn and on an obscene wage and then his personal stuff made him an easy target. He wasnt great but I still felt we would always get through our qualyfying and then its down to the KO stages when our long seasons seem to be buggering us up. The problem with Svens failure is that everyone now doesnt want another foreigner in charge which means we have got to pick whats best of the rest.... McClaren - Won the League Cup and finalists in UEFA. Allardyce - Has come along way since managing Limerick about 16 years back but his sides are rekknowned atbeing long ball specialists and again, hasnt actually won anything. Peter Taylor - Again described as a master tactician but we all know a failed manager who has won fudge all but lives off the press he got for making Becks captain and managing the u21s to a decent record. Steve Coppell - Maybe one to look out for. Has done well in the first season in the premier playing some nice stuff and has a good eye for talent, bringing in players on the cheap from Eire. Hasnt won much apart from cruising into the premier. I hope he doesnt go the way of clubs like Reading, Wigan, Ipswich who did well and over-achieved and followed that up with fudge all. Maybe with continued success he may be our best option but not for at least 4 or 5 years. Then there is Stuart Pearce, Alan Curbishley, Alan Pardew, Terry Venables (who unfortunately may be too old and out of touch to try again) Surely it must be a foreigner who has achieved plenty like... Big Phil Scolari (May well have beenmanager by now if it wasnt for the nutty press) Jose Mourinho (Maybe loves Portugal too much) Arsene Wenger (has been here long enough so maybe is almost English ) Alex Ferguson (I dont think the Scots would forgive him if he managed England) who else??

Louis van Gaal, a man who was actually mentioned as being the possible next Leicester City manager quite hilarously on the moan in once.
BartonFox Posted 8 February 2007 Posted 8 February 2007      I haven't laughed so much since Macedonia at Old Trafford and a few days later in Croatia. Keep up the good work lads As it goes we don't want your shambles in the Celtic League you'd only embarass yourselves and lower the standard of competition
lookwhaticando Posted 8 February 2007 Posted 8 February 2007 McClaren blames loss on absentees England coach Steve McClaren attributed his side's home defeat to Spain to the absence of several key players. Of fück off Smiler. Seriously. Missing a few players is regrettable, picking shit to replace them was unforgivable. Phil fücking Neville at LB! Lampard and Gerrard back in the middle together where time and time again they've been proven not to work together effectively. SWP who plays about a minute a month. Defoe played again and he's been shit for two years now (there was a reason we didn't take him to Germany - that reason being he was shit). And what's this? Ah! They say - it's a Sven-esque rotation during the game! Gary Neville (Richards 65) Woodgate (Carragher 65) Phil Neville (Downing 74) Gerrard (Barry 46) Lampard (Barton 79) Wright-Phillips (Defoe 69) Six whole changes (ineffective ones at that). Fûck off McClaren, fûck off Neville P, fûck off Lampard, fûck off Wright-Phillips, fûck off Defoe, fûck off Downing. Welcome back to the fold Woodgate, though. About time too. Welcome to the fold for the first time Foster... shame it didn't go as well as hoped.
Dr The Singh Posted 8 February 2007 Posted 8 February 2007 IMHO opinion, I think were overrated, even with key players!! There wasn't much between the 2 teams yesterday, we lacked the cutting edge and to be honest we are a very average team without Rooney!!!
Floating Fox Posted 8 February 2007 Posted 8 February 2007 The papers are more pathetic this morning than the team and fans were last night

There wasn't much between the 2 teams yesterday, we lacked the cutting edge and to be honest we are a very average team without Rooney!!! We're not really that special with him.
Geo V Posted 8 February 2007 Posted 8 February 2007 Louis van Gaal, a man who was actually mentioned as being the possible next Leicester City manager quite hilarously on the moan in once. I didnt hear the City link, was it done on April 1st?! I agree he could do a job for us. The Dutch have always had talented footballers and play attractive stuff but there individuals seem to let each other down by fighting and bickering amongst themselves. It has been happening for ages for as far back as when Rijkaard played, then Davids and now Van Nistelrooy refuses to play under the current coach. Maybe if we had that style of football and confidence without the pretentious crap that the Dutch players come out with we may be on a winner. The problem is does the average English fan actually want another foreigner? As for the injuries, yes I agree that the team will be much changed come the time we face Israel and the likes of Robinson, Terry, Rooney and Lennon will be back and maybe Ashley Cole (I dont know how long he was ruled out for). Where his arguement about injuries comes unstuck is that we havent played well since his first game incharge and are now have gone 4 without a win. Im not a stat man but I bet that hasnt happened in a while? Mac is under-qualified and seeing him failing is no surprise. It will just be gutting if the fans are mugged of the chance to play in the Euro Champs, especially having one of the best squads because the FA made their decision based upon the media scrutiny.
Daggers Posted 8 February 2007 Posted 8 February 2007 Indeed and we can see them all herehttp://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/index.ph...c=21856&hl= I am hoping that McClaren is a clever man. I hope McClaren is a winning man. I am hoping Venables is as talismanic now as he was during Euro96. Well...what a snapshot of the past. A right pair of puddings; that performance was so similar to watching City. A team that could play better, that should play better being hampered by an idiot with the tactical nouse of a four year old with a nappy rash face. Fortunately I care not for the fortunes of the National team anymore...I'm in the DS camp...but I was hoping for a decent game of football. I laughed so much when the goal went in ~ but not as much as I laughed at his post-match comments. What a ****ing idiot McClaren is!
