Geo V Posted 7 February 2007 Posted 7 February 2007 Romario transferred to Vasco De Gama at the ripe old age of 41. This bloke is my favourite Brazilian player as I am too young to remember the 70s and earlier years as I wasnt born until 72 but this bloke is something else. check out his honours here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rom%C3%A1rio . His game sto goals ratio isnt bad, check the stats! AN absolute legend! SAO PAULO, Brazil: Romario is back on Vasco's roster after being cleared to play by FIFA, but he will remain on the bench for the team's next match in the Rio de Janeiro state championship. FIFA last week said Romario would be allowed to play for the Brazilian club despite a regulation that prohibits players from playing for more than two teams in a 12-month period. Romario has already played for Miami FC in the United States and Adelaide United in Australia. The 41-year-old striker returned to practice on Monday, but will stay on the bench in Vasco's match against America on Wednesday. "He's back on the roster, but will start the match on the bench," coach Renato Gaucho said on Monday. "He needs to regain his form and his rhythm." Romario, who led Brazil to its fourth World Cup title in 1994, hasn't played since December in Australia. The striker says he needs 13 goals to reach 1,000 in his career, a feat achieved only by Pele. Romario, who began his career with Vasco in 1985, also played for Flamengo, Fluminense, FC Barcelona, Valencia and PSV Eindhoven. Vasco has won its first two matches of the season in the Rio de Janeiro state championship.
