lildave3 Posted 15 February 2007 Posted 15 February 2007 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/i...als/6363435.stm Good, there's far too many meaningless friendlies these days, better off just training for 4 days or something.
Simi Posted 15 February 2007 Posted 15 February 2007 I don't think theres any need for them at all. Scotland had a good idea and just had a team get together. We wouold benefit from this too I think.
Manwell Pablo Posted 15 February 2007 Posted 15 February 2007 Any one care to hazard a guess which international team plays the most freindlys a year?
Birdy Posted 15 February 2007 Posted 15 February 2007 The one that is having to pay around £800 million for a new stadium.........??? Plus, I'd use friendlies in getting my team to play well together, not play formations and players you have no intention of using come a cup competition. Whats the point?
Manwell Pablo Posted 15 February 2007 Posted 15 February 2007 Any one care to hazard a guess which international team plays the most freindlys a year? Brasil, certainly hasn't done them any harm over the years.
surrifox Posted 15 February 2007 Posted 15 February 2007 Brasil, certainly hasn't done them any harm over the years. bet the foreign currency comes in handy too
Master Fox Posted 15 February 2007 Posted 15 February 2007 Thank god for that, i wish they would get rid of all 18 friendlie fixtures.
Wils Posted 15 February 2007 Posted 15 February 2007 Thank god for that, i wish they would get rid of all 18 friendlie fixtures. But then we wouldnt get to see the class of players like Downing at that sort of level.
lookwhaticando Posted 15 February 2007 Posted 15 February 2007 A reduction of two friendlies over the course of four years! Wow! Hardly seems worth it, does it?
lildave3 Posted 15 February 2007 Author Posted 15 February 2007 Wow two less friendlys... ¬_¬ Could you not just of used ' <_< ' ?
Leicester Lass Posted 15 February 2007 Posted 15 February 2007 But then we wouldnt get to see the class of players like Downing at that sort of level. Downing isnt that Bad. Be fair.
Flynny Posted 15 February 2007 Posted 15 February 2007 A reduction of two friendlies over the course of four years! Wow! Hardly seems worth it, does it? That's 0.5 friendlies a year! Good heavens are they MAD?! A reduction was a good idea, but this is too far!
Geo V Posted 16 February 2007 Posted 16 February 2007 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/i...als/6363435.stm Good, there's far too many meaningless friendlies these days, better off just training for 4 days or something. I dont think there is anything wrong with friendlies, its what we do during the friendlies thats the problem. It should be a forum for us to try and gel our best team together IMO. I would start with our strongest side and in the 2nd half make a few changes but keep the same system. I`d also use other friendly matches to play a totally different system but start once again with our best players for the system. The problem is that our players play far too many matches and club managers want them to not take part in the match or at most, play 45mins. Keep the friendlies but have a plan for them FFS!!
Simi Posted 16 February 2007 Posted 16 February 2007 Wow two less friendlys... ¬_¬ Could you not just of used ' <_< ' ? Tried to be clever and write the shortcut in himself Two friendlys is not really a big difference hopefully they can do something useful when they have this break though.
Geo V Posted 16 February 2007 Posted 16 February 2007 Ive just started a thread about England International players and there are some reasons on there why we should never have friendlies. Michael Ricketts, Paul Konchesky and Michael Gray. If they can all play for England so can I!!!
Daggers Posted 16 February 2007 Posted 16 February 2007 That's 0.5 friendlies a year! Good heavens are they MAD?! A reduction was a good idea, but this is too far! My post of the month
