Bluefoxtim Posted 19 February 2007 Posted 19 February 2007 I'm in the worse possible state. I go on periods of doing literally none, then doing huge amounts. Like last week I was playing football for about 3 hours a day, then this week I've barely moved an inch. All my joints ache and my knees hurt like a b@stard. Then when it comes to doing some exercise again, even walking, it bloomin well kills Joints then ache even more, and I do nothing, then they hurt even more next time...i'm in a vicious circle. WHERE HAS MY POLL GONE!

Zingari Posted 20 February 2007 Posted 20 February 2007 I and most of my team-mates are often accused of being idle fat useless wastes of space who couldn't run if our arses were on fire. Anyway, some foreign blokes just bought the club and said if we don't shape up we'll be on our way so its off to the gym for me today.
amitoo Posted 20 February 2007 Posted 20 February 2007 When i was living in leicester i use to play football 4 times a week and then go gym at least 3 times to stay fit and look good, since i moved over to holland november 2006 i haven't even kicked a ball or ran a mile, my work give free gym membership but it is nothing like gyms over in the UK its a complete mess, you wouldnt want to go there, and the distance is too far i have to catch a train there, i thought that i might have my work mates who would play football once a week and go to the pub for drinks and just chill they we do when we work in england, its normal there, here they dont ever go out of the office they work like 10 days and there excerise comes when they bike home, so the answer is i dont get enough excerise as i should be getting
Dellyjo Posted 20 February 2007 Posted 20 February 2007 I go to the gym twice a week & now that it's lighter again in the mornings, I shall start running outdoors before work.
Shum Posted 20 February 2007 Posted 20 February 2007 I go to the gym twice a week & now that it's lighter again in the mornings, I shall start running outdoors before work. I think sometimes I do too much, 4-5 times a week playing football and gym. So lately calmed it down a bit, and I don't feel like an old man every morning now!!
andyh1884 Posted 20 February 2007 Posted 20 February 2007 I'm training for a half marathon so it's at least 5 miles a night, 5 nights a week. It's not good for you, I tell you
Maybes Posted 20 February 2007 Posted 20 February 2007 I play 5 a side at least once a week, and very occasionally make a trip to the gym
Leicfox Posted 20 February 2007 Posted 20 February 2007 I have everything in my garage, from punchbags to an electric running machine, and ive not been on them for well over 6 months, i used to do 30mins a day but the habit wore off, i must start again, i must start again, i must start again.
Wils Posted 20 February 2007 Posted 20 February 2007 I normally have a game a week and training. Went to the Gym for the first time in ages yest,my ribs are hurting from all them sit ups Im sure i used to double that.
Stevosevic Posted 20 February 2007 Posted 20 February 2007 I play for Wroxham FC in Norfolk, semi professional so we do quite a bit of training. Monday is fitness training, tuesday is traning and Wednesday i have an Under 18 match. Then on saturday, more often than not, i will play for the reserves. A Decent level so the games are tough, just waiting for the call up to the first team, for a 17year old i am well ahead of where i should be. Also on thursdays i go running, usually about 8km. and then i do obviously have to fit in time with the girlfriend so alot of exercise there too! So i would say i am very fit, its been said.
the_bowman Posted 20 February 2007 Posted 20 February 2007 I do a lot of walking at school because it's on two different sites, 2 paper rounds and play five - a - side once a week
Simi Posted 20 February 2007 Posted 20 February 2007 I try and play football and tennis often but after breaking my leg finding it hard to get back into exercise slowly
the_bowman Posted 20 February 2007 Posted 20 February 2007 I try and play football and tennis often but after breaking my leg finding it hard to get back into exercise slowly any excuse...
Cobbo Posted 20 February 2007 Posted 20 February 2007 I do far to bloody much. Get stamped on all the time and kicked the shit out of yet I keep doing it and ache like buggery.
Milky Posted 20 February 2007 Posted 20 February 2007 I did absolutely shit loads of sport from the age of 5, and my body has paid the price a bit. Back in the day we didn't really do proper warm ups, warm downs and stretches, so now i've got the groins of an OAP and no flexibility whatsoever. It sounds strange, but i've sort of retired at the age of 20, making the odd appearance here and there now and again. I deserve the rest though trust me. i have made a pledge to get on the rowing machine during my easter and summer holidays. we'll see hey.

WHERE HAS MY POLL GONE! My weight has gone up and down since the first time I broke my ankle years ago kick boxing. No activity and the weight piled on and when I was heeled I managed to shift it before breaking my ankle again (the same one) playing footy. My weight goes up and down but I am currently in he zone training again and my ankle has been fully healed for a while. The only way people will do any training is if they enjoy it. I used to hate the gym but now I love the thing because I can come and go as I please and do the training that actually makes a difference instead of training for weeks with little effect to your body. BTW I get the aches and pains bit mate because when you hit the 30s (now 34), recovery time is about a week! I can feel the pan in my joints when I am on the machines in the gym but try to occupy myse;f of eyeing up one of the lasses on the step machine. The only bit of advice I would give you is do something everyday, even if its sit-ups or jogging/walking around the block every. Also get yourself down the local massage parlour to help soothe your bones and ask them for the house "special". Money is no object!
MC Prussian Posted 20 February 2007 Posted 20 February 2007 I go out running twice a week (three times if possible) and do push-ups and sit-ups right after that. It's my personal fitness program. Still think I could do better, though.
JoeyB Posted 20 February 2007 Posted 20 February 2007 used to do none but recently decided to book my ideas up and i now go to the gym 2-3 times a week
Rincewind Posted 20 February 2007 Posted 20 February 2007 Don't bother with gyms. But I do a fair bit of walking in my job which is supposed to be the best form of exercise. A patrol takes 15-25 minutes with four lots of stars to negociate spiral and normal. Plus at 3am there is no public transport so it's a 40 mionute walk home. Just weighed myself. Minus pocket contents (but clothed) I'm over 14 stone which may be a little overweight for my height. But I feel OK. Too little exercise may be harmful but too much can also be harmful.

Walking is fine but not enough unless you are 80+!
