If Gerrard is so good in the middle of the park why does Benitez prefer Alonso and Sissoko in there :dunno:

Don't believe the hype :thumbup:

If the other two could play on the right, then he would go straight into the middle. The thing about Gerrard is, that for Liverpool, he's good everywhere. Just not for England apparently.

Same applies to Rooney, Owen, Lampard, Ferdinand and Terry :thumbup:

Rio Ferdinand :laugh: what a joke of a player he is.

Owen was a busted flush after France '98 as is Rooney after Portugal '04.

I haven't read so much pish since Ultra last posted.

Let me get this straight, because this is one of the worst defences since San Marino's against Germany at the start of this campaign; are you seriously suggesting that Benitez would take his best player and play him out of position to accomodate two lesser players and further still not buy a right midfielder thus allowing his best central midfielder to play in his best position?

lollollol

What a walloper, he isn't playing centre midfield because he isn't first or second choice to do so, nor is he for his country and yet he is being championed as the best player in the world lollollol

Amazing how many have been taken in by Adidas and Nike marketing machines.

Steven Gerrard isn't even the best player at Liverpool FFS that accolade goes to Xabi Alonso.

Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player in the world at present. Those who include Terry and Rooney are taking the piss big time.

Not one mention of Ballack or Shevchenko :rolleyes: Reno Gattuso is also missing.

:dunno::dunno::dunno:

All good points (ESP about Gerrard) but I stand by my top 6. :thumbup:

have you seen Shevchenko and Ballack in the premiership this year? they wouldnt get close to the worlds top six. you obviously dont see liverpool play that much as Gerrard is by far their best player, yes Alonso is good, but doesnt touch Gerrard. stop slagging off the English players because your scottish.

When he wants to, but he has too many games where he is completely anonymous, particularly for his country. I can't argue with his performances for Liverpool for example the one in Istanbul, but technically he pales in comparison to other players. There are players who score more goals, while excelling in other areas, players who are faster and excel in other areas, players who pass better than he does etc etc. While I'm talking about passing, I fail to see where his reputation as an excellent passer comes from. Far too many passes from him go astray and that certainly isn't the mark of a good passer in the mould of for example Pirlo.

A great player, but certainly not one of the world's best.

Agree with most of that. ;):thumbup:
