I buy em and sell em when I get the chance but only the old one-arm bandits and amusement machines. Used to buy pinball machines too but no longer have room for the big gear.

Don't start.

That's the thinking.

Had a mate once who was addicted to them. He used to stay in pubs after we'd moved on down the road because he saw a payout in an hour or two on a fruit machine in the corner. Sad life.

That is sad.

Stitches out today my good man?

Addicted. And I'm pretty good.

Dabbling is the worst because you spend money but rarely make any back.

Absolutely. The thing is you have to get to a level of playing them almost all the while so you get to know each machine. Just general players who play here and there, will struggle most of the time.

It's getting harder and harder to make a profit I find though.

What's your favourites bandits? I hate those Red machines. They pay big, but they also eat money like a bastard.

My favourite is Cash Bang Wallop and anything else very similar (I think this machine has a lot of clones).

The place and time to play them is in busy pubs on a Sunday lunch time. A lot of casual players fill them up on a fri/sat night.

I try to steer clear these days to be honest, I did have a jackpot over the weekend though. I could see it was going to pay out. Some girl was playing it with her boyfriend. They weren't holding anything (a good way to get the jackpot to drop in sometimes - ignore holds) but I think they just didn't know what they were doing. It awarded them a feature with an extra life, all the cr ap money already eliminated and only 2 options on the feature, streak and mega streak.

Straight away they hit £4, repeat chance, and took it.

They were dead chuffed with themselves.

What they didn't realise was that as they were out of credit, they wouldn't get the repeat chance.

I stuck a quid in, it repeated twice. Then I got on the board and walked off with the mega streak.

I reckon it might have paid further too, but we were moving on to another place by then.

The fruit machinery and the gaming industry laugh at the saps that pay to spin the reels.

If anyone want to throw their money away then send me £5 and I will send you some real fruit.

There's a decent margin in it for the gaming industry - of course there is.

Luckily, enough piss-heads and idiots play the machines that those of us who know what we're doing and know the quirks of the machines and the signs... we can make a tidy profit too.

Yeah I remember the Cash Bang Wallop and clones well. It could be a slag though when it wasn't playing. It was a good machine to force so that it streaked.

I like the machines made by Extreme, they often pay 3-4 jackpots in quick succession when they've been rammed by piss heads. A few years back when I was out on the piss you could easily win your night's ale money just by keeping an eye on what's going in what machine and then clear up if you could be arsed.

CBW & clones are getting hard to come by these days.

When you find them though and they're ready to pay (usually a sat night a few hours in or a sunday lunch), if you hit the mega streak, you'll hit it again and probably a third time.

You really are laughing with those, just ignore the holds for a while, keep spinning, eventually, it will spin you in with the cr ap eliminated, extra lives, there will always be a 1 or 12 available.

Happy days.

There's still one in one of the boozers near where I live, incidently the only times I ever go in this establishment is about 11pm on a saturday night, i've had some very good pay-outs on it.

Do you remember the Monopoly machines? There used to be a fault with the note changer on them at first and it would register the credits but give you your note back. Only worked for about 2 weeks before they caught wind of it and changed them all. lol

They used to pay out loads, and the made it perfectly clear when they were going to wipe you off the board and it gave you chance to take your winnings before it did.

I do like a machine that you can collect on a '?' especially when you're not sure how the machine is playing. If you keep landing on the '?' regularly straight the way then you know the machines not out to drop it's business.

We used to have an exquisite Ant 'n' Dec's Saturday night take away one in our Union that if you played at the end of the night you could regularly hit the Jackpot on.

I don't really play them, my housemate's a big fan though.

Good machine that.

I also like the Deal or No Deal bandits. When you get on to the super board, it's money time.

Slight deviation, but I've got the jackpot on the DOND quiz machines a couple of times.

My favourite win was when we decided to go all the way to the end, had the £20 and the 30p box.

Decided to No Deal on the offer of about £8 and took down the £20.

Gold.

Good work sir.

I have also took a jackpot off the DOND quiz machine, but only after being really pissed up with a couple of my mates and us putting about £30 in between us. Those quiz machines are even more addictive than bandits.
