Geo V Posted 8 April 2007 Posted 8 April 2007 GK Logan Due to Henderson's balls ups this year FBK FBK CBK Kisnorbo CBK McAuley LMD RMD CMD CMD CF Hume CF Subs - Logan, Levi, Fryatt I honestly feel that we need a major overhaul. I think Hendo is OK but we need one of the best keepers in the division. I`d rather have Logan on the bench personally and a new man between the sticks. McAuley and Kisnorbo are good enough as a pairing in defence and offer us plenty at set-pieces goingh forward. Ive always thought that Hume would be a much better player in a better side and would keep him in but despite being a Fryatt fan, I think he isnt the finished article we need as a striker to bag 25+ goals quite yet. Levi is Ok too and could easily improve quickly next season with experience so it maybe harsh to push him to the bench as like Hume, we may see a better player if he gets the ball more often and gets a chance to impress instead of being bypassed too often.
Simon Posted 8 April 2007 Posted 8 April 2007 GK Hendo/Logan (Both equally capable for this level) RB CB Kisnorbo CB McAuley LB Skills (if he stays) RM CM CM LM ST Hume ST Sybs: Logan/Hendo, Porter, Fryatt, Stearman Question marks still over Fryatt and Porter in a promo winning team but both are definitely squad players and perhaps more. Fryatt in particular if he gets the right service. Stearman has the potential but needs to be well coached and managed. You also have players like Newton who is possibly a keeper and Weso who if he stays injury free and fit has potential. None of these players would be definite starters IMO and we should work on that assumption until they can prove otherwise.

potter3 Posted 8 April 2007 Posted 8 April 2007 GK Hendo/Logan/New keeper (Both current keepers equally capable for this level, but most promotion gaining teams have an outstanding keeper) RB CB Kisnorbo CB McAuley LB RM CM Hume CM LM Porter ST Fryatt ST Sybs: Logan/Hendo, Stearman, Nils Despite what some people think, I beleive Porter and Fryatt are perfectly capable of playing in a team that gains promotion. Fryatt has had a very unlucky season, with injuries, and has proven that with decent service he will get a fair few goals. Same with Porter really, I think he'll play much better with a better team surrounding him, he was pretty poor against Derby, but rarely got the ball passed to him. He was forever in space when the ball was in the middle/far side, but our players lacked the vision or confidence to pick him out from that distance, they didn't attempt it once. He's shown he's capable of beating good defenders, he ripped the right back apart when we played Fulham at home. I'd put Hume in midfiled as he'd be more effective there, and it leaves room for a 'prolific' striker to hopefuly come in and play up front with Fryatt. He would also improve the service and work-rate in midfiled.
potter3 Posted 8 April 2007 Posted 8 April 2007 Hume in RM? Why? Played there a lot for Tranmere, and he drops back to midfield naturally, although I'd prefer him CM
C-man Posted 8 April 2007 Posted 8 April 2007 GK Hendo RB Stearman CB Kisnorbo CB McAuley LB Nils RM CM CM LM ST Fryatt ST Hume I don't think that one of our midfielders is capable of getting in a promotion winning side. Porter would be on the bench, though.
Simi Posted 8 April 2007 Posted 8 April 2007 I'd like to see Hume behind a front two next year. Maybe Fryatt and a decent striker up top and have Hume behind them. If we are going to push for promotion next year we need to have a bit of flair and attackive mindness. Logan Stearman - Maybe if he can rediscover his old form Kisnorbo McAuely LB RW CM Porter /LW Hume Fryatt ST.
Bryn Posted 8 April 2007 Posted 8 April 2007 Played there a lot for Tranmere, and he drops back to midfield naturally, although I'd prefer him CM Yeah I know he can play RM but I think it's an unusual choice, I don't think he'd offer us much there.
Brainy Posted 8 April 2007 Posted 8 April 2007 I'd really like Fryatt to cement a place up front for next season, but I want a 20-goal a season striker up their with him. So I wouldn't know where that would leave Hume.

Mort Posted 8 April 2007 Posted 8 April 2007 Assuming a bog standard 4-4-2 formation, and I’d like to see some use of 4-3-3 and 3-4-3 next season… GK: ? -Hendo’s ok, Logan is still young… but neither is up to scratch as a first choice keeper for next season imho. There are plenty of realistic targets available and while its not the top priority its an area that needs looking at; Ashdown, Taylor, Camp and maybe Hoult could all be good shouts. RB:Stearman – If we had a manager who could hammer some sense into him. CB: Kisnorbo CB:McAuley LB: ? LM: ? CM: ? CM: ? RM: ? ST: ? ST: ? Subs: Henderson - Kenton - Porter - ? - Hume (‘impact player’). Others: Fryatt and Weso both have the ability to be part of a promotion chasing side, but both need to recover their fitness and confidence before hand, a short, active, loan move for each could do each the world of good on the back of a strong pre-season. Nothing very surprising we need an entirely new midfield, left back is a vacancy that needs filling, we don’t have a particularly strong candidate to play in goal if we’re looking for promotion and finally we need strikers who can actually score regularly with the support of a strong midfield.
Flynny Posted 8 April 2007 Posted 8 April 2007 GK - No idea. Logan's not proven enough and Hendo sometimes looks superb and sometimes average. Need to punt one of them and get a new man in. RB CB Kisnorbo CB McAuley LB Johansson (Doubt he'll stay though) LW RW - Newton (If we can keep him) CM CM CF Hume CF Fryatt Doubtless different players would look good/crap when a new man comes in, though, so it's very hard to say. I'd probably keep around as squad players Maybury, Jarrett, Hughes, Stearman, Porter, McCarthy and Weso. We need at least one really good buy up front, too, which would mean putting Hume in midfield or dropping Fryatt.

So I wouldn't know where that would leave Hume. Midfield, in fact we should move him there now that Fryatt is back (because we would have had Hammond and Horsfield up there otherwise), he would increase the creativy and work-rate in midfield.
Mikey Posted 8 April 2007 Posted 8 April 2007 GK Hendo/Logan/New keeper RB CB Kisnorbo CB McAuley LB DM Weso/New player LM Porter RM New Player AM Hume ST Fryatt ST As Potter3 said above I think that Fryatt and Porter are both good enough for a promotion challenging team. Our midfield is just too poor to produce many big goalscoring opportunities for Fryatt. And as for Porter he is always in so much room but most of our team lack the vision and ability to get it to him most of the time. Yes, he did play quite poor against Derby but he did also play good against Fulham both Home and Away. And as for Hume in AM, I think he would be very effective and would help produce more opportunities for the likes of Matty and the new striker that comes in .
Simi Posted 8 April 2007 Posted 8 April 2007 Midfield, in fact we should move him there now that Fryatt is back (because we would have had Hammond and Horsfield up there otherwise), he would increase the creativy and work-rate in midfield. I think we would be risking Fryatts form playing him with Horsfield and Hammond. I don't think they would benifit Fryatt at all. Sadly I think we can only play Hume if we have a striker and a holding midfielder.

He dropps back into midfield a lot anyway.
Simi Posted 8 April 2007 Posted 8 April 2007 Good point, but Fryatt could benefit form moving Hume into midfield, he would link up well. He dropps back into midfield a lot anyway. True. But when Hume does drop into the midfield he leaves Fryatt on his own. If the midfield wasn't as weak this wouldn't be a problem.

Mort Posted 8 April 2007 Posted 8 April 2007 Thats the thing though, our strikers do not get enough support to see how good they really are, or how they would cope in a better side. I think thats a fair point... Fryatt would do well IMHO with a good midfield getting the ball to him and Hume would also be more effective because he wouldnth have to fall back so far and could centrate on being a "striker" rather than constantly having to help Hughes, Jarret, Johnson etc... do their jobs in midfield... at the same time I think we could do with strengthening are options up front, but your righ about the middle of the park and how that could and should help a player with Fryatt's ability and Hume attitude.
potter3 Posted 8 April 2007 Posted 8 April 2007 True. But when Hume does drop into the midfield he leaves Fryatt on his own. If the midfield wasn't as weak this wouldn't be a problem. This is why I would prefer him to actually play in midfield, as there is still another striker up there with Fryatt at all times, even it is the Gazelle, or the Horse.
Tommeh Posted 8 April 2007 Posted 8 April 2007 Nice try!Are you related to Steve McLaren in some way? Samuel is a left back & Hume centre left mid? I should surely hope not! I meant to put Hume way in front of Hughes in behind the front two, and I was undr the impression samuel could play either full back positions, like Kenton but better.
