Breaking News - Career First for Blanderson.......

He backs the sacking of a LCFC manager - he must be so familiar with the taste of MMs arse dglove.gif

Comment by Bill Anderson: Mandaric could give Kelly no more time Same place, same look - but a different manager. That was Home Park, Plymouth, on Monday evening when everybody in the City camp knew the score - and we weren't talking 3-0.

Just over 14 months ago, the haunted look belonged to Craig Levein. And there was no mistaking that Robert Kelly, having taken the reins after Levein's sacking following the Plymouth defeat last season, had assumed on Monday the demeanour of someone who knew his days were numbered.

Even though Kelly was popular with the players and generally accepted as a good coach, City's new owner Milan Mandaric no doubt felt he had given him enough time to protect his investment for next season. But his worries were shared by many, inside and outside the club, as results were not being produced.

The ideal scenario may well have been to give Kelly until the end of the season and for his true managerial worth be judged when he had the funds available, something he never had in his time at the helm.

But steering City on a safe course last season had to be followed by progress and, in many ways, he must feel let down by those entrusted to produce that.

Mandaric had already shown at Portsmouth that he does not mess about. He could read the league table, and watched the performances, or lack of them, as well as anyone else, and the last thing he was going to do was allow things to go to the wire.

Frankly, while the clouds are looming, City's chances of staying up are healthier than many, and I do not think they are in a critical position. But that is easy for me, or anyone else, who does have a £25million stake in the club to say.

Mandaric is shrewd, on and off the field.

He wants to deliver a winning team.

But he does not want that winning team to be in the third flight because then the return on his investment would hardly have been appetising, and he would have to start his crusade towards the Premiership from that level.

It would have meant a lost year, and Mandaric has shown he is no fan of losing any time at all, let alone a whole season. His decision was made with genuine regret regarding Kelly, but also with genuine pragmatism.

Mandaric wants to see City back in the top flight, and will make the decisions he feels are necessary to get there. While some may feel he might have made this move sooner, there is no doubt he gave it as long as he possibly could.

The new regime has five games to do the job entrusted to them, and who knows what may follow after that. The irony is that they are charged with trying to achieve exactly what Kelly did a year ago.

He's a fence sitter, always has been. He'll have well known Kelly would be on the way out and the way he creeps around MM is pathetic.

Many aspects of our takeover were tasteless to me but I hope MM succeeds as much as the next man but not to the point that I won't consider every decision he makes then praise what I believe is the good and criticise the bad.

Licking arse doesn't serve the club one bit. If Blanderson wanted to serve the club he could/should have voiced his views on Kelly loud and clear long ago and given his reasons.

If the club or the manager or the owner want then to disagree with him they've every right to be heard and something good might emerge but reporting less than fully or frankly just to preserve one's privileges at the club is pathetic.

It's no use Blanderson criticising Kelly when it might be too late or when he's out anyway. He's the Leicester journalist if, sadly not a Leicester fan. He should lead from the front. Tell it exactly as it is without fearing anyone.

Which begs the question:

Why didn't he pipe up before the sacking?

What a moron

Because that's Blanderson all over!..when was the last time he reported something we did'nt already know? All he does is recycle old news because it probably has to be censored and authorised by whoevers arse he's licking before he publishes it.

I'm confused.

I read Andersons reports and his assessment of the individual players performances and he hardly ever reports a bad one. You know the sort of thing: 'No chance with the goals', 'Unlucky with decisions', Did well considering it isn't his usual position', etc, etc.

If you read his reports, but didn't know the score, you would think we were a top european side.

It wasn't until the other day that I realised how long Blanderson had been doing that job - I was clearing out my loft and found a Mercury dated August 1976 and I turned to the back page to see what was going on (not a lot as it turned out as the season had not yet started) and there it was "Reporter - Bill Anderson".

So that's over 30 years in the job; how old is he? How long was he working at the Merc before 1976? How long will he continue?.....

It is a little known fact that actually Milan Mandaric is the result of an illicit love affair that Bill had with a beautiful Yugoslavian girl just before the outbreak of the second world war. Bill was covering LCFCs first sojurn into European competition against a little known team called Hitler Youth F.C.

Yes he's such a veteran that he seems to disbelieve that anyone still around worked in the Mercury sports department if he didn't know them.

But I pre-dated him by a decade training there with a legendary Mercury football writer named Lawrie Simpkin, his successor and golfing enthusiast Jimmy Martin, rugby specialist Bob Baldwin, sports editor Doug Johnson and sports sub editor Alf Perkins.

Good atmosphere it was too at that time.

In fact had I stayed there I'd probably have had his job except I wasn't much of a conformist! He should be grateful. :D
